Club Reports: Señor Frog’s, La Vaquita, Congo Bar, Mandala Nightclub (Cancun)

This is the Zona Hotelera/Hotel Zone in Cancun, a 22-km stretch of beachfront along the Caribbean lined with all-inclusive resorts, restaurants, shopping and nightlife. By now you know that if we’re traveling, we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities we’re in or the ships we’re on. With one night remaining on this trip, we decided to check out the Cancun Bar Crawl Madness Tour to get a sampling of the local club scene. Depending on the night of the week, it includes visits to 3-4 clubs along with all you can drink!
We began our evening at the Meeting Point.
It’s located directly outside our first stop of the evening, Señor Frog’s.
And thus the Madness Tour began!
Our group included a couple guys from Seattle and two couples from El Paso.
And the guy responsible for all the fun, our Team Leader Dorox.
This branch of Señor Frog’s has this large bar along one end.
And numerous ceiling signs typical at Señor Frog’s. We have a branch in Orlando along International Drive but its been years since we visited it.
Of course Mr. Frog himself was here too!
In the booth we found Real DJ Pepe Cancun (MEX).
What surprised us was that the music was just about all EDM and Latin House. We heard songs such as David Guetta (F) classic hit “When Love Takes Over” and Hugel (F) current hit “Movin’ To The Sun”.
Drinking games figure prominently at Señor Frog’s and this location was no exception.
The MC got the crowd involved!
Involved indeed!
And the drinks and shots just kept on coming! Many bar crawls we’ve attended include one drink at each establishment such as this one in Ensenada in early 2024 and this one in Toronto a few months later. Not on this crawl. You could have as many as you dared and our Host kept bringing out more trays full!
Of course you have to know when to say “No, gracias” lol.
Always a wild time at Señor Frog’s!
Things were getting serious!
A good time was had by all. All too soon it was time to be moving on…..
We didn’t have to go far. Within stumbling distance was La Vaquita.
Operating on four or five levels with the bar all the way back.
“La Vaquita” in Spanish means The Little Cow and that was the theming for this club. But we only saw large cows such as this one outside.
And this heifer inside.
The seating was all bovine-related too.
Up high in one corner, we spotted the DJ booth.
Occupied by the DJ and his Tech.
DJ Nunez (MEX) playing Reggaeton and EDM during our visit.
The shots just kept on coming, oh my!
Up high in the opposite corner, one member of our group decided to Go Go for us.
Soon joined by others. As you may know from reading our Blog, you can never go wrong with Go Go girls.
A good time was had by all.
Not part of our bar crawl but immediately adjacent to La Vaquita was Congo Bar.
What caught our attention were these light-wrapped palm trees. You know we love palm trees.
Place was packed as Hip Hop hits played.
Las Vegas-style nightlife.
A good time was had by all.
Soon our tour guide told us it was time to move to our final club.
Mandala Nightclub
Where we were first greeted by these two door hostesses.
And we walked into this!
DJ Alex de la Cruz (MEX) was in the booth located overlooking the dance floor.
The music mostly EDM and EDM remixes.
Dance floor stayed jammed under the spotlights.
Songs such David Guetta (F) hit “Titanium” and EDM versions of LMFAO (USA) hit “Sexy and I Know It” and Black Eyed Peas (USA) classic “Tonight’s Going To Be A Good Night” kept everyone moving.
Our host kept bringing more drinks, dammit!
Was expecting a night of Hip Hop and Reggaeton but were surprised how much House and EDM has made it into Cancun nightlife. That’s what we mostly heard at the RIU White Party on Wednesday night and now that’s what we mostly heard during this Bar Crawl. Loved it!
If you’re ever in Cancun, highly recommend the Bar Crawl Madness Tour available on Viator, Trip Advisor, Get Your Guide and other platforms.
Everywhere we went, a good time was had by all.
