Club Reports: Kala Rooftop Lounge, Red Coconut Club, Iron Cow

We began our Friday night at Kala Rooftop Lounge located atop the brand new Cambria Hotel just off International Drive.
The first thing you notice is this zero-edge infinity pool that occupies a lot of the rooftop. The club’s railing offers spectacular views of I-Drive, Volcano Bay and Universal Studios Florida.
We found DJ Dan Orlando (CDN/USA) in the booth tucked into one of the corners.
There were a few on the pool deck dancing to the music.
The fully-stocked bar is located in an opposite corner.
Any venue that has this kind of philosophy is going to do well.
The music was almost all 90’s & 00’s Classic Dance hits.
This operates from 7PM to Midnight every Friday night so come check it out as it offers a great vibe to begin your night out. Big thanks to Blog reader Frank who alerted us to this brand new place.
Rumors of the demise of Red Coconut Club were apparently premature. Located at Universal CityWalk, it had closed during Covid and then only reopened for special events. But in the past year we’ve seen them reopen for a few weeks at a time as a themed holiday club such as Dead Coconut Club during Halloween and Cursed Coconut Club over Mardi Gras. But they’re apparently back!
We arrived close to 11PM to find DJ FRNKROK (USA) in the booth.
He had a contingent on the dance floor for the typical RCC music format of old and new Top 40 hits.
And then on the stage around 11:15PM, there he was, the headliner…..
DJ Chino (USA)
He would continue the same music format as the dance floor filled-up.
It’s great to see CityWalk with a real dance club again!
DJ Chino was previously the Friday night resident DJ at The Groove, CityWalk‘s main dance club. But they never reopened post-Covid and it was sadly turned into an escape room.
From the Blog archives as shown above, DJ Chino in booth at The Groove.
DJ Chino will be playing here at Red Coconut Club on Fridays, at least for the summer. DJ Poproxxx (USA) will be here on Saturday nights.
So come check it out! Admission and parking are FREE.
OK, next over to the Milk District and the Iron Cow.
We stepped inside and were greeted by Door Hostess Stephanie. Despite her apparently sweet demeanor, don’t try to sneak-in without paying because she will pounce on your ass.
We walked into THIS!
Resident DJ Lola B (USA) was on the decks when we arrived.
House music was the order of the evening.
She had been alternating with resident DJ Atnarko (USA) but we sadly had missed his set.
The bar was packed!
The dance floor was packed!
And then on the stage around 12:30AM, there he was, the headliner…..
DJ Miguel Migs (USA)
He would play a mix of both vocal and nonvocal House.
From the Blog archives as shown above, we had last seen Miguel Migs play 10-years ago in Bangkok, Thailand. When I mentioned this to him earlier before his set, he responded that he definitely remembered that night and it took place at Q-Bar Bangkok. OMG, out of hundreds of club nights he’s performed at since then, he even remembered the club name!
We ran into lots of peeps in the club; some we knew and some we didn’t.
Miguel Migs had the club bouncing.
Upcoming shows here at IC include Jay Tripwire (CDN) on June 16th and Quivver (GB) on June 17th. Wow!
Everywhere we went last night but especially here at the Iron Cow, a good time was had by all.
