Club Reports: Good Times, Mulligans, The Robinson

Located in a small strip shopping center along Keller Road in Maitland, Good Times Bar & Grill is not somewhere you’d expect musical entertainment. But this is the home to mostly live bands in north suburban Maitland and it was our first stop last night.
We opened the door and walked into this.
Full-liquor bar and a live band playing on their raised stage.
Switch (USA) was in town and they were taking us back to the 80’s!
We heard 80’s New Wave hits such as “Hungry Like The Wolf”, “Tainted Love” and “Rio”. We also heard 80’s Rock hits such as “Livin’ on a Prayer”.
One of the Switch alter-egos is when they play as Nerd Ranger (USA) but they told me that wasn’t part of their show last night.
To say this attracts an older crowd would be an understatement. But we have noticed it’s more crowded here on the weekend after social security checks drop.
While it is mostly live bands on weekends here, don’t forget DJ Lavidicus (USA) brings his Goth Night to Good Times on the first Friday of each month. For all your favorite Industrial and Dark Wave, the next “Abyss” is on Friday, November 6th. We recommend you wear black.
Good Times has a shiny disco ball over the dance floor so you know they’re legit.
Good times at Good Times!
Located in a larger strip center but further north in Longwood, Mulligans is a restaurant/bar that turns into a dance club on Friday nights.
We opened the door and walked into this.
In the booth we found Friday night resident DJ Richie Rich (USA).
We’ve known Richie Rich for close to twenty years following his residencies at The Beacham/Tabu in downtown Orlando and at House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista.
DJ had the club bouncing!
The music mostly 90’s & 00’s Hip Hop classic hits.
Noticeably lacking at Mulligans, a shiny disco ball over the dance floor. But they do have a ceiling fan. Message to Management: You need a shiny disco ball.
We ran into so many people from the Orlando Breaks scene. Some were new but most we knew.
The music was so good, even Dorsey was dancing.
A good time was had by all.
We next headed into DTO to visit The Robinson.
We climbed the stairs to arrive in the bar area. We’ve seen it much more crowded.
There was a crowd over in their Disco Room.
DJ Chymera (USA) in the booth.
The music all House during our visit.
Dance floor was jammed.
A few costumes were making appearances. With Halloween on a Saturday this year, next weekend will be crazy!
Spotted in VIP.
The Robinson has multiple shiny disco balls over the dance floor so you know they’re legit.
Everywhere we went last night, a good time was had by all.
