It’s now called Genesis Health Club in Maitland but most of you will remember this place as the RDV Sportsplex when it was owned by the Orlando Magic and was home to their practice facilities. It’s like a health club on steroids. Besides an ice hockey rink, there are several pools. And numerous basketball courts. And yesterday afternoon it was home to Orlando’s edition of “Thrill The World“, the world’s largest simultaneous “Thriller” dance!MC duties provided by DJ Scott Fijolek (USA) who brought “Thrill The World” to Orlando in 2022 from his native Seattle.Music was delivered by DJ Lu (USA) yesterday, of course solely Michael Jackson (USA) tunes.Spotted in Wardrobe: The instigator of “Thrill The World” in Orlando, Thommy Sandvick. His love of Michael Jackson and specifically “Thriller” comes from his days as Door Host at 8TRAX on Pleasure Island.Almost time for the event to begin! In the preshow, this duo performed a dance medley of “Bad”, “PYT” and “Thriller”.While this guy did “Billie Jean” including some pretty-decent moon-walking.There were 100 costumed participants in this year’s event.Spotted on the dance floor: Celebrity Ghoul DJ Dave Cannalte (USA)OK everyone, places! At 5:59PM, everyone into their dead positions! And promptly at 6PM, the ghouls began waking-up as the beginning of the “Thriller” song began. They’ve been practicing for months and it was over all too quickly. When we attended the first Orlando show in 2022, there were only a dozen participants.
