We don’t typically go out on Thursday nights but this IS a party weekend so why not? And so we went to a concert in DTO at The Social. The Social has a stage with a sunken dance floor in front of it. When we arrived there was only a handful of patrons in the club and prerecorded music was being played that consisted of mostly 70’s/80’s & 90’s Soul tracks.Around 8:10PM the opener came on; Dance Singer Rye Rye (USA).She performed around 10 songs that ranged from Hip Hop to House to EDM to Pop, all accompanied by her dance moves. And she had an impressive array of dance moves. The Social has a shiny disco ball so you know they’re legit. And then shortly after 9PM, there she was. The headliner…..Dance singer Kiesza (CDN).She is most-famous for her breakout song “Hideaway” from 2014 which she would perform later in last night’s show. The music video for that song is notable because the camera filmed it in one continuous shot without a break, even though she participated in numerous dance routines along her way down a NYC block. Kiesza was dressed quite gothy with a black dress, leather brassiere, shredded hosiery and combat boots.Only one dancer with her last night but he would participate in numerous songs with her.The only other song we recognized was “I Go Dance“, her 2024 hit that made it to number 1 on the U.S. Dance Airplay chart. Surprisingly, we did not get 2026 hit “I Can’t Wait“, a DJ Bob Sinclar (F) remix that is getting current radio airplay.Kiesza is originally from Calgary but is now based in Toronto. She is sometimes confused with another Dance singer named Ke$ha (USA) and sometimes with DJ Kasia (PO/GB).It unfortunately did not get very crowded last night for such a great show. But more did arrive after her set started. The music was delivered in a DJ format by DJ Jess Cake (GB/CDN).And he was quite animated throughout her set.A lucky birthday boy got to see under her poofy dress. And one time her dance partner came out dressed like a giant tongue, which she promptly squatted over. Nice!Kiesza plays tonight at Revolution Live in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Maybe FTL will turn-out better than Orlando did.“Raining” at the end of the show.Despite the smaller crowd, she joined everyone down on the dance floor. You knew then that a good time was had by all.
