Saturday night in the city and time for some more club visits. We began the evening at Elixir Bar.Where we walked in to their famous outdoor dance patio at 10PM to find this!Opening set from DJ duo Cense + Willo (USA).Beginning the evening with some Downtempo House and then slowly building the pace and volume. They were the openers for DJ duo Cocodrills (USA) who would come on around midnight. And the dance floor went from this…..…..to this in just a half hour.Spotted at the barrier: DJ K1KO (USA) with the Lighting Tech. K1KO is the new General Manager of Elixir Bar and YAZ next door. Expect the latter to become an upscale dining venue with music later in the evening. He’s also the Thursday night DJ at Aero Bar across the street.By the time we departed, the dance floor looked like this. And a queue to the street corner outside meant it would soon be packed! In the vast music desert that is Wall Street Plaza, Monkey Bar is the proverbial oasis of greenery and music bliss.Located upstairs, we walked into this!We found resident DJ Dity (USA) in the booth.A night of Progressive House.During our visit the dance floor went from this…..…..to this.Monkey Bar has two bars. This is the inside bar.And on the balcony, this is the outside bar. Psych! They’re really the same bar but open on two sides.DJ 9JuanJuan (USA) taking over close to 11:30PM.If you’re having a techno emergency, dial 9JuanJuan. He played a great House/Tech House set. When we departed a long string of new guests were coming up the stairs so the place would soon get crowded.DJ had the club bouncing. We next headed to The Axe Trap off I-4 at the Lee Road exit in Winter Park. Because on Saturday nights, it becomes home to Barbarella. Arriving after midnight, we walked into this! And just as it should be on a Saturday night, DJ Indie John (USA) in the perch.Delivering 80’s New Wave and Alternative. Most songs with Promo Only or DJ Rob Video Vault music videos. We heard some Depeche Mode (GB), Cyndi Lauper (USA) and A-Ha (N), among others. While we usually recommend you wear black here, there was quite the mixed crowd last night.Everybody loves the 80’s!Barbarella‘s darker cousin “Memento Mori” takes place here at The Axe Trap on Saturday, April 18th. Expect less New Wave and more Dark Wave, Goth and Industrial.Everywhere we went last night, a good time was had by all.
