Club Reports: Daylite Love Fest @ Elixir, Grumpys Underground, Iron Cow

There’s a rumor out there that the older members that make up Gen Z don’t drink and they want to be home in bed by 11PM. We’re not here to debate the topic but we can definitely say that dance parties that take place during daylight hours are the rage worldwide including here in Orlando. So yesterday morning we went out to Elixir Bar downtown.
For the Daylite Love Fest dance party on Valentines Day.
But first we had to get past the Door Hostess Jamie.
There were two areas of music yesterday, one indoors and one outdoors. Right by the entrance we found DJ Ferny (USA) on the inside decks.
House music, of course!
Every seat at the bar was occupied as were all the booths.
We next headed to Elixir’s famous outdoor patio and arrived to find this!
Saxx Doc (USA) was in the booth when we first arrived.
He was delivering both a DJ set…..
Mixed with his saxophone to EDM tunes.
Because everybody wants great sax!
The dance floor was beginning to get occupied.
The outdoor bar was already jammed.
Elixir has a shiny disco ball so you know they’re legit.
Back inside for DJ Drect (USA).
More House! First time seeing him play.
Shortly after Noon outside, the legendary DJ Nasty (USA).
Playing Latin House for most of his set.
And it was getting crowded down there.
House music, all day long!
DJ Nasty had he patio bouncing.
And all of a sudden, Go Go girls!
They say you can never go wrong with Go Go girls.
Well damn, they were right!
We ran into several peeps we know from the music scene.
DJ Eccentra (USA) had opened the outdoor stage before we arrived.
DJ Eccentra with friend.
DJ Antonia Rivano (RCH/USA) with DJ Eccentra.
We had met both of them last summer at a different Daylite party over at Qreate Coffee.
At 1PM, DJ Rupesh (USA) taking over.
A great EDM and Vocal House set.
The dance floor had become impassable.
Bubble music!
Saxx Doc joined-in for a couple tunes.
Lots of red in the club for Valentines Day.
There’s something to be said for day drinking! There were plenty of mimosas and other drinks going around.
Checking back inside, DJ Trochez (USA).
More House music!
Outside, there were kandi bracelets to be made.
And in the booth, the instigator of this event, DJ Chino (USA).
EDM and Classic Dance hits such as “Move Your Body”, “Renegade Master and “My Feelings For You”.
Everybody singing along to David Guetta (F) hit “Titanium”.
No dead DJ’s allowed at these Daylite parties!
Inside for the 2PM set from DJ Nela (USA).
We told Nela that every time we see her, she’s got a different look!
She had the inside crowd bouncing. The show would run until 4PM but we had to cut-out at this point.
The next Daylite party returns to Qreate Coffee in the Creative Village downtown on Saturday, February 28th. It’s free with the purchase of any drink or pastry. And getting an advance ticket HERE assures your spot. No alcohol but plenty of java. Inside or outside yesterday, a good time was had by all.
After our union-mandated break, we headed back out beginning at Grumpys Underground.
It was still relatively early but we walked into this.
Here we found DJ Gr3ywolf (USA) in the booth.
Drum & Bass was the order of the evening last night.
Small crowd beginning to build.
We ran into so many peeps we know from the music scene. Some were new but most we knew.
Around 11PM, DJ Yori (USA) took over the booth.
He would continue with the DnB.
It never got crowded during our visit but it was still pretty early.
And the full-liquor bar was occupied. Grumpys Underground is located in Orlando’s Mills/50 District.
We next headed over to Orlando’s Milk District, home to Iron Cow.
It’s called the Milk District because the bars and restaurants here are directly across the street from the T.G. Lee Dairy plant.
Arriving around midnight, we walked into this.
The opener DJ Lola B (USA) was still playing.
House music all night long.
Dance floor wasn’t crowded but it was hardly empty either.
We ran into so many peeps we know from the music scene. Some were new but most we knew.
DJ Mathew Scot (USA) taking over shortly after we arrived.
And he made the switch from thumb drive over to vinyl.
The club has a good assortment of their own records but DJ’s typically bring their own crates too.
His House and even some Disco set had the dance floor bouncing.
Some Ambient towards the end of his set.
Team DJ photo from last night.
With DJ Cliff T (USA) taking over late.
It’s interesting. Twenty years ago everyone played off vinyl and DJ’s had to learn digital methods such as laptops and thumb drives to remain relevant. We’re now experiencing a throwback era where more and more clubs are doing vinyl nights and the digital DJ’s are having to either learn or relearn the art of mixing off records.
Cliff T kept the dance floor busy with an Old Skool set that included some 80’s hits such as “Shout” and 90’s hits such as “Insomnia”.
Great day and night and everywhere we went, a good time was had by all
