Club Reports: Swirlery Wine Bar, Celine, Palm Tree Club

We began our Friday evening at Swirlery Wine Bar located in Orlando’s SODO district.
You never know what you’re going to find when you walk into Swirlery and last night we walked into this. Just a handful of patrons on-hand listening to some great music on an 80’s Vinyl Night.
On the decks when we first arrived, DJ Vint Soul (USA).
Closing out his set with Harold Faltemeyer (D) hit from the “Beverly Hills Cop” film, Axel F. Lots of great memories with that tune.
This is a wine room so you’ll only find wine, beer and a few seltzers. We always thought they should carry a few bottles of soft drinks too but so far, none.
DJ Arcade Apocalypse (USA) came on around 10PM, opening his set with M|A|R|R|S (GB) hit Pump Up The Volume.
The two DJ’s play here at least monthly.
All the music last night out of crates and off vinyl, old-school style.
There is table seating and bar seating at Swirlery.
We next headed to DTO and Celine nightclub. Parking meter spots are free downtown after 6PM and my arrival just as events at Kia Center and Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts were both letting out meant ample free spots.
We try not to go to the same venues on back-to-back weekends and we were just at Celine last Friday night but we wanted to see last night’s headliners so here we were. We walked into this.
The opener was still on when we arrived, DJ Palmtree (USA).
His set a mix of EDM and Classic Dance.
It got crowded last night but not packed like some events we’ve seen here.
At 11PM DJ duo Yokai (USA) came on but it was only one half of the normal duo. With the missing member out in Colorado snowboarding, he was joined by DJ Trochez (USA). Couldn’t get a good photo of them from my angle.
Their Tech House (with a surprising amount of Latin House) set had the crowd bouncing.
And then at midnight, there they were!
Miami-based DJ duo Black V Neck (USA).
We’ve never been sure if they named their DJ duo “Black V Neck” because they always wear black v-neck tee shirts or they always wear black v-neck tee shirts because of their duo name.
We last saw them when they played at Elixir Bar on a warm night in February, 2023.
Lots of enthusiasm in the crowd from their mostly vocal House set. Interestingly, their second song was Ya Kid K (B) hit “Pump Up The Jam“. Pump Up night in Orlando, apparently!
A good time was had by all.
We next headed over to Live! at the Pointe located in Pointe Orlando along International Drive. This new night club district has 6 nightclubs including Palm Tree Club owned by DJ Kygo (N).
The headliner was already on when we walked into this after 1AM.
DJ Austin Millz (USA)
Playing an expected EDM set.
Like Celine earlier, crowded but not packed.
DJ had the crowd bouncing.
These windows surrounding PTC don’t close. While they provide a refreshing breeze in summer, that same breeze in winter is a different animal. Likewise, while much of the club is covered, certain parts don’t have a ceiling whatsoever so when it sprinkles like it did last night, plastic tarps have to be brought out.
Harlem-based Austin Millz was pretty animated during his set last night.
It was our first time seeing him play.
A good time was had by…..probably most people, but at least by that one guy.
