Club Reports: Morse Code, Iron Cow, Bikkuri Lounge By King Bob in Club Reports September 28, 2024 Winter Park’s downtown is famous for its shopping and restaurants but even on weekend nights, it seems they roll-up the sidewalks before 11PM and there isn’t much going on. That changed when Morse Code opened up and that was our first stop last night. We walked into this. Nearly every seat in the place was taken. The music being delivered by DJ NvS (USA). The music on the Chill House side with some occasional Jazz weaved-in. Morse Code is a beer and wine-only venue which is perfect for the Winter Park crowd. We had missed the opening set from DJ Ethan McCain (USA). We’re told an hour after our visit about 30 more people arrived and it got packed with a full dance floor. Sorry to have missed that! Morse Code is located on Morse Blvd one block east of Park Avenue so come check it out when you’re in DTWP looking for some late night. Iron Cow is located on Robinson Street in Orlando’s so-called Milk District and it was our next stop. We walked in to this crowd on the dance floor. The music delivered by DJ Dose (USA). House music with and without vocals and even some Classic Dance. DJ Mark Farina (USA) was originally scheduled for last night but the event was postponed due to the impending hurricane. Dose had the dance floor bouncing. Spotted on the dance floor: Jaime Anne aka Mrs. Dose. Spotted by the bar: DJ Jerry “The Reverend” Johnson (USA) who had played earlier along with DJ Jody Buck (USA) and DJ Atnarko (USA). Happy Birthday to The Reverend! Spotted in VIP: Amelia with DJ Dack (USA). Spotted on the dance floor: A rare appearance from Jose! It was soon 11PM and time for a shift change. DJ Dose closed with an awesome House remix of Dance classic “Rhythm of the Night”. With DJ Atnarko taking over. House music all night long. It never got super-crowded in here but it was hardly empty either. Tonight at the Cow DJ’s Noel Sanger (USA), Seth Vogt (USA) and Blake Jarrell (USA) are playing and admission is free if you preregister here. The sign says “Sticky Rice” on the outside but there’s a dance club on the inside! The famed Bikkuri Lounge. But first we had to get past Door Hostess Shari and convince her our Press credentials were authentic. We arrived to a very-spartan crowd on the dance floor. DJ Miraxy (USA) was providing the tunes. Only the second time seeing Miraxy playing; we had previously seen her play at The Corner in DTO. Last night she incorporated numerous niches of House music styles in her set including some great build-ups and drops. Spotted passing by: Promoter Yuri Gonzalez Spotted in VIP: Larry and Renee Bikkuri is famous for this multi-colored light wall which was not operational last night. It looks like it could use a good scrubbing though. Blog archive photo of that light wall in action on a night DJ duo Kyau & Albert (D) played here 8 years ago. This event was advertised as an “Afters” party so a crowd was not expected here until late since it was going until 6AM. The bar had a queue at various times during our visit. Everywhere we went last night, a good time was had by all. Social:TwitterFacebookEmailLinkedInRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppPocketTelegramLike this:Like Loading...
