Club Reports: Barbarella 3.0, The Capital Room

By now you know Barbarella 2.0 relocated from their spot in a suburban industrial park to this new spot inside The Axe Trap on Lee Road in Winter Park. They opened last weekend but we were out of town so this was our first chance to check it out!
Didn’t know what to expect but here it is: Barbarella 3.0 It’s huge!
And just as it should be on a Saturday night, DJ Indie John (USA) delivering the good stuff.
Which is, as always, 80’s New Wave and Alternative. They are currently only open on Saturday nights.
Wear your favorite color to Barbarella, as long as your favorite color is black.
Spotted on the dance floor: Cherice, Barbarella Lighting Tech Ernie and DJ Smilin’ Dan (USA).
Spotted by the booth: Angelique with friend.
Spotted in the alcove: DJ Jerry “The Reverend” Johnson (USA), Sarah, Dana and Drew Garabo from WHPT FM102.5 The Bone, Sarasota/St. Petersburg.
Spotted on the dance floor: Tina and Renee
Our only complaint about this new location is the parking. We arrived around 10PM (they open at 9:30PM) and snagged a spot in their overflow lot but there were only about six other spots remaining at that early hour. There are lots of office buildings nearby but their lots all have “TOW ZONE” signs on them. There is some street parking but beware of “NO PARKING” signs too.
They have a huge bar near the entrance with full-octane alcohol.
DJ Rob Bates (USA) would be taking over late.
Impressive new location and a good time was had by all.
We next headed up to north suburban Sanford and newer venue The Capital Room. This is located directly on E. 1st Street, across the street and a few doors down from famed Hollerbach’s German Restaurant.
This is a craft cocktail joint and this large bar in the front room greets you when you first enter.
The DJ booth and dance floor are located in the back room. Here we found DJ Knightlife’s (USA) set already in progress.
Two nights in a row seeing DJ Knightlife! He had played Friday night at Morse Code in Winter Park.
Dance floor was already active when we first arrived.
Spotted on the dance floor following his set: DJ Knightlife with the stunning Mrs. Knightlife, Carla.
Taking over next, DJ Kevin Keith (USA).
He was pretty animated up there!
The dance floor got more populated.
Look for more DJ’s and more dancing every Saturday night here at The Capital Room.
Decisions, Decisions!
We ran into so many people from the Orlando scene. Here, a traditional photo of Dorsey and Amy.
Amy and Michael
Dorsey don’t get out much so when you see him at an event, you know it’s gonna be a good one!
Spotted in VIP: Bear and Buffy
Spotted in the corner: Susan and Brandan
Spotted in the front room: Anthony and Adriana
Wowzers!
Spotted for the second night in a row: DJ Mike Presley (USA) with Megs.
Contrary to popular belief, DJ Chris Hawk (USA) is actually a Harris/Walz fan. I think that’s what he told us; the music was kind of loud.
Spotted at the bar: Kylee Dee with Jamie Lynn
Spotted on the dance floor: Bridgie
Spotted in VIP right before going on stage, Julieth with the headliner…..
DJ Mark Sanchez (USA)
His set would bring mayhem to the dance floor with a mostly Breaks set!
Of course we remember Mark Sanchez for his amazing New Years Eve sets at EPCOT: Italy.
Last night he opened with some House and then switched it over to Breaks. His set had the floor bouncing!
Rachel showing how it’s done.
Dance floor never became impassable but it definitely got crowded.
Spotted just before going on stage, Dolly with…..
DJ Johnny Park (USA)
Johnny Park opened his set with Mon A Q (USA) Dance classic “Stay In Love” and the floor was rockin!
Breakers gonna break!
This is what old skool Breaks will do to you!
Thanks everyone for the poses. Super fun night and a good time was had by all.
