Club Reports: Vines Grille, Laguna Bar, Rix Lounge, Atlantic Dance Hall

We recently posted an article about all the nightlife options happening along International Drive. In the near future we’ll be doing another one about the Sand Lake Road/Dr. Phillips area which is jammed with restaurants that turn into clubs later at night. We visited one of those last night: Vines Grille & Wine Bar.
Located at the far rear, this raised stage is the Saturday night home to BACK2BASICS, the new weekly House music event with free admission.
When we arrived DJ Romano Arcaini (D/USA) was spinning.
And we do literally mean spinning because this weekly is an all-vinyl affair.
The place is huge and there was a good crowd on hand.
And although advertised as a “wine bar”, it’s actually a full liquor establishment.
Shift change!
With DJ Carlos Mendoza (EC/USA) taking control.
Carlos Mendoza opens for the legendary DJ Paul Oakenfold (GB) on October 27th at the new Kali Ultra Lounge aka Mango’s Upstairs. Get Early Bird pricing here.
House music all night long. Every Saturday night. Come check it out at Vines!
Our next stop was Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Home to Laguna Bar.
It’s a cute little kiosk out on the waterfront.
Jessica from Adventurers Club was on duty. But why did we come here? A couple years ago Blog reader Troy wrote us to let us know about a secret drink menu they had here. The email was lost and forgotten until we just recently rediscovered it.
You have to ask for the “Pleasure Island Drink Menu” aka “Every Day Is New Years Eve Menu” because it’s not posted! The drink names have been changed to protect the innocent (and copyrights) but the “Out To S.E.A.” is actually a Kungaloosh in disguise! Pleasure Island memories at Laguna Bar!
Long live the Funmeister. Come check it out!
As long as we were visiting Coronado Springs Resort, we wandered over to Rix Lounge.
It’s become more of a sports bar than a dance club.
In the far alcove, the dance floor is still here but is now used for additional seating.
The DJ booth is also still here so the potential exists to turn this back into a dance floor during the many conventions that take place at this resort.
We previously saw DJ Ish (USA) playing here at Rix so many years ago!
We next headed over to Disney’s Boardwalk Resort.
Home to Disney‘s only remaining owned and operated dance club, Atlantic Dance Hall.
Where we walked into this!
We found DJ Mynd (USA) in the booth delivering the goods.
Atlantic Dance Hall is so cavernous that even when there’s a lot of people, it can seem empty. But last night, it did not seem empty!
The ADH format is generally Top 40 hits old and new.
But last night the DJ also played quite a bit of EDM hits including songs by Avicii (S), Zedd (D), Lil’ Jon (USA) and Natasha Bedingfield (GB). It was great!
DJ Mynd has been all over the place! We recently saw him open the new PBR Cowboy Bar at Live! at the Pointe, he opened the new Rodeo bar in Wall Street Plaza downtown and of course he’s the resident DJ at The Edison in Disney Springs. Friday night he played in Indianapolis and then he’s back here at ADH the next day!
Atlantic Dance Hall is typically very casual but there were quite a few people that were dressed-up last night too. They were mostly members of the Disney Day Drinkers Club which had a members-only party here earlier.
Admission and parking at Atlantic Dance Hall are FREE.
A good time was had by all.
