Club Report: Schmankerl Stub’n VS Neon Beach

We just recently tried out downtown’s new German restaurant that goes by the name Schmankerl Stub’n. I speak some German but the name was difficult to pronounce even for me.
The restaurant is located at 131 N. Orange Avenue where one of our favorite clubs Neon Beach used to operate.
This is what it looked like when we walked inside.
This is what Neon Beach used to look like when you walked inside.
The large bar that used to occupy the center of the room at Neon Beach is now on the far right side. During our visit only 3 dining tables were occupied and there was a handful of guests over at the bar.
The neon palm tress that used to decorate the place are no longer there. We saw many DJ’s playing when it was Neon Beach but nothing like that now. There was a music track playing in the background but it wasn’t even German oom-pah music.
Sorry, forgot to take a pic of my Wiener Schnitzel before having devoured most of it, lol. It was so tender and so good. We didn’t care for their “no substitutions” rule. I would have preferred Bratkartoffeln (German fried potatoes) with the schnitzel but the answer was a firm “no” so I was stuck with the coated fries. If this location couldn’t make a profit from liquor money as a bar/club, not sure how they will make money as an ethnic restaurant in downtown Orlando. The food is great though as was the service and you should definitely check it out. Menu here.
