Club Report: 70’s Disco Party @ Bliss Lounge (Norwegian Dawn)

By now you know that if we’re traveling we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities or ships we’re on. Here we are in South Africa doing a 12-nt cruise from Cape Town over to Port Louis, Mauritius on Norwegian Dawn. This is one of NCL‘s smaller and older ships but it was all about the itinerary this time.
There are several music venues on board but the largest is the dance club Bliss Lounge. Bliss can be found on most of their older ships; not sure if the clubs on their newer, larger ships still use that name.
Last night it was time for the 70’s Disco Party!
No DJ last night for this show. The music was delivered by live band Rhythm Jive (RP).
The ship’s animation team opened the show to get dancers onto the dance floor.
Their ploy worked; it got crowded fast for songs such as “I Will Survive”, “Funkytown” and “Last Dance”.
We had seen this band previously on Norwegian Star in January of last year!
Floor stayed jammed for songs such as “Celebration”, “September” and “Dancing Queen”.
Lot of old people on board, lol! What’s up with that?
Most of the words were provided by these two vocalists. Some Saturday Night Fever tunes included “Stayin’ Alive” and “You Should Be Dancing”. It was like a night at 8TRAX on Pleasure Island.
If they were giving out prizes for best-dressed 70’s, this couple would have won.
“YMCA”, of course! Good party to start the cruise and a good time was had by all.
