Club Reports: Morse Code, West End Trading Co., Manikins (North Suburbia)

Friday night already and we headed up into Orlando’s northern suburbs. We began in downtown Winter Park at new venue Morse Code.
Upon arrival DJ Yuri Gonzalez (USA) had turned the controls over to last night’s headliner…..
DJ Jerry “The Reverend” Johnson (USA)
This was our second visit. It’s not really a dance club per se but an upscale bar and restaurant with beer and wine only.
Like our first visit before Christmas, all the tables and chairs were occupied.
Spotted near the aft lavs: Autumn and Caity
Spotted in the booth: The Reverend with his main squeeze, Dana.
The music was Deep House during our visit.
Next on to downtown Sanford and our next stop, West End Trading Co.
Here we found DJ Dom (USA) on the small upfront stage playing 90’s and Indie Rock.
They do have more than just beer and wine here and the bar was absolutely jammed.
Over the years we’ve never really seen people dancing here unless it was dancing in place. But during every visit its always been crowded. So it’s more of a place to meet up with friends and chit chat. There is no cover charge.
Towards the rear is West End Live, a separate area that does have a cover charge if there is a live Rock band playing. But last night no band so it was free to come in.
Here we found DJ Travi Seeds (USA) on the stage playing old Hip Hop hits.
Just one couple on the dance floor though while others were just standing around watching.
The real reason for coming to downtown Sanford though is this place…..Manikins!
With this veteran DJ Paul Vaine (USA) in the booth on both Friday and Saturday nights!
Of former club Visage fame, the music here on Friday nights is Goth, Industrial, Dark Wave, New Wave, Synth-pop, Fast Techno and more! On Saturday nights the music is not as dark.
The dance floor got jammed!
The club’s owner kept giving me “the finger” before I realized he was just saying his club is #1.
At Manikins, it’s all about the mannequins. They’re all over the place and some are so real, you kind of have to stare at them for awhile to figure out if it’s a mannequin or a live person.
This is no mannequin! Spotted working the rear bar: Heather
There is a covered patio out back with photo opportunities galore including a cage, spankings and…..
…..a couple beds! Be good.
Wear your favorite color, as long as your favorite color is black. This is an amazing place to spend your Friday night so come check it out. A good time was had by all.
