Club Reports: B.Nice Patio Bar, Grumpys Underground, Abba Mania @ Plaza Live

This is the former Sheraton Orlando Hotel at the corner of Rosalind and Washington. More than a decade ago it was converted into condos and more recently, that tiki hut on the corner became…..
…..B.Nice Patio Bar. Just our second visit ever and first time ever for “Wiggle Wednesdays”.
It’s a small venue but jammed with fun people and you never know who might be spinning.
We arrived at the tail-end of an Electro House set from DJ Jerry The Reverend Johnson (USA).
DJ Gerry LaBarge (USA) came on next and he would play a mix of House, Dubstep and Breaks.
The club has a shiny disco ball so you know it’s legit.
Just a small bar serving beer and wine.
Spotted on the dance floor: DJ The Reverend with Dana
Spotted by the bar: Leah and Lewis. Come check this place out!
Looks like Grumpys Underground may have changed their name to Gumpys Underground, lol.
We arrived to find DJ Sketti (GB/USA) in the booth playing Breaks.
Followed by DJ Nelly Fre$h (USA) after the shift change.
Dance floor wasn’t too busy during our visit.
First time visiting on a Wednesday night.
Spotted in VIP: DJ Rosk (USA) with Leona.
Spotted on the patio: DJ Frequie-G (USA) and DJ Dee Dee Slay (USA).
And now for the real reason we were out on a Wednesday night. The Plaza Live for…..
Abba Mania!!!!
When we were here last month to see DJ Bonobo (GB), seating had been removed and this was a large dance floor. First time seeing it with the seats installed.
And then, there they were! The famed 70’s band, ABBA (S).
Headlined by Elsa & Anna Agnetha & Frida. They haven’t aged a bit!
Agnetha’s voice was clear, crisp and booming as they opened with “Waterloo” and “Knowing Me Knowing You”.
They would get the audience standing and singing for “Money Money Money”
“Fernando”, “Take A Chance On Me” and “Mama Mia” soon followed. As one might expect for an ABBA show, it was an older crowd who remembers them from the 70’s Disco era.
But there was also a lot of Gen Z people in the crowd. I asked the 20-something girl seated in front of me if she liked ABBA or was forced here and she says she really likes them. She discovered them from the hit film “Mama Mia” which introduced the band to a whole new audience.
The name ABBA was chosen from their names Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid.
“What’s The Name Of The Game”
“S.O.S.” So many hits!
Flashlights came out for “Winner Takes It All”.
“Gimme Gimme Gimme”
ABBA Mania with its live band and live vocals is impressive if you’re into their music. They have upcoming shows in Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, Jacksonville and several other Florida cities with advance tickets here.
Back in 2021 we got to visit ABBA The Museum in Stockholm. It’s definitely worth a visit for their fans.
After 2 hours (including a 20-minute intermission), the band announced that they had played all the songs they knew and said goodbye. But of course they quickly came back out for an encore and delivered “Dancing Queen” to the cheering crowd.
A good time was had by all.
