Club Reports: Green & Red Coconut Club (Universal), Atlantic Dance Hall (Disney World)

One of the great things about living in Orlando is that you can visit both Universal and Disney in the same evening! So here we were on a Friday night at Universal’s CityWalk, all dressed-up in holiday splendor.
The Red Coconut Club never did reopen as itself following the covid closures, except for private events.
But during Halloween Horror Nights they did reopen for a month or so as the clever Dead Coconut Club.
And now for Christmas, the Green & Red Coconut Club.
With DJ Marg (USA) pumping out mostly 70’s Disco during our visit!
It was only 10PM during our visit so the dance floor wasn’t full just yet but the music drew a line outside with people coming in to check it out! Both bars were already jammed.
Music like “Stayin’ Alive”, “Celebration”, “I Will Survive” and “Gimme Gimme Gimme” reminded me of the World’s Largest Disco event in Buffalo that we attended just two weekends ago!
The club was all made up in holiday cheer. While at CityWalk we also visited the new Universal Great Movie Escape which replaced The Groove. We’ll report on that separately in our Monday article. All CityWalk‘s remaining clubs are free and Universal garage parking is free after 6PM.
Besides the great 70’s music, what really got our attention was this retro wax injection machine which produces a green wax Santa. It brought back memories of when each service plaza along Florida’s Turnpike had such a machine and where for $.50 you could get something made like a wax alligator, wax palm tree and other Florida-themed items. They cost $8 now here! What sucker is going to pay that?
But he was having such a good time doing that John Travolta pose!
So here we were next on a Friday night at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, all dressed-up in holiday splendor.
Home to Disney‘s only remaining owned & operated dance club, Atlantic Dance Hall.
We found DJ Zach Rand (USA) in the booth playing mostly Hip Hop remixes to an EDM beat, Top 40 and Line Dances.
ADH is cavernous so it’s hard to look crowded but last night, it looked crowded!
All the songs come with music videos on the big screen.
Atlantic Dance Hall is one of the few clubs in the Orlando area where many patrons wear Mouse ears.
Well, actually, it’s the only club in the Orlando area where many patrons wear Mouse ears.
“Cupid Shuffle”
Zach Rand is the Friday night resident DJ at Atlantic Dance Hall. Tonight will be even more jammed as their annual “Jingle Ball” takes place ft. DJ Michael Wycoff (USA). Admission is free so you might want to check it out. Parking is also free.
A good time was had by all.
