By now you know that if we’re traveling, we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities we’re in or the ships we’re on. Yesterday we got to board Royal Caribbean ship Harmony of the Seas which was doing a special 2-nt sailing to their private island CocoCay in the Bahamas. Harmony is an Oasis-class ship and is celebrating her 10th birthday this year. The ship is absolutely huge!The pool deck and surrounding bars go by the name of The Lime & Coconut and it was home to yesterday’s Sail-Away Party from Port Canaveral. It’s hard to have a cruise without a sail-away party!That party was already in-progress when we arrived on the pool deck at 4PM.Joined by the ship’s Cruise Director Lisa (GB) and the ship’s animation team, line-dances such as “Cha Cha Slide” and “The Wobble” had the dance floor packed.The music tracks were delivered by DJ Amir (PA).He looked so familiar so we did a search in the Blog archives.Sure enough, we had met him in 2014 on Royal Caribbean ship Vision of the Seas. When we showed him this photo, he remembered exactly what ship it was on and the year! Conga line coming through!Even the youngsters know how to do 1995 hit “Macarena”. A good time was had by all.Located along the ship’s Royal Promenade on Deck 5 midship, Pesky Parrot is primarily a tiki bar that appears on many of Royal Caribbean’s larger ships. And it’s home to Ricky the pesky parrot. He’s rude, crude…..and bites!Lots of tropical-themed drinks available here.Fun venue.On Deck 6 midship overlooking the promenade below is a feature found on all Royal Caribbean ships large and small: Schooner Bar.Lots of dark woods and nautical theming.Last night crooner Julio Isa (RA) was performing on the piano.We heard soft Rock tunes such as “This Is Your Song”, “Imagine” and “Let It Be”. You can sing-along or simply relax.We ended our first night onboard after midnight at the ship’s disco, Dazzles, located on Deck 8/9 aft.There had been a huge crowd in the ship’s promenade for a balloon-drop so we did not expect many people to be here but we walked into this!Dance floor was jammed for mostly old Hip Hop hits.In the far corner we found DJ Shakeem (TT) in charge of the music. This ship has two DJ’s. This is the second Trinidad-based DJ in one week as we had just seen DJ Trini D (TT) last Sunday night at Dead Coconut Club in Orlando.Dazzles is a 2-story club with upstairs seating.And views of the dance floor below.Songs such as “Apple Bottom Jeans” kept the floor full.A good time was had by all.
