Club Report: Virginia Horse Center (Lexington, VA)

By now you know that if we’re traveling, we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities we’re in or the ships we’re on. We’re visiting Lexington, Virgina and could not find any nightlife listings here which is surprising because this is a college town with two universities, Virgina Military Institute and Washington and Lee University. When we saw there would be a family line-dancing party at Virgina Horse Center, we knew we had to go check it out!
Taking place in one of the horse arenas, the event began with the “Cupid Shuffle” which we took part in. We took great care to not step in any horse manure that might have been hidden in the sand.
The line-dance music was delivered by Tennessee-based DJ AJ (USA).
With the line dance lessons led by MC Raelyn (USA).
We expected Country music line dances but Raelyn was giving dance lessons for songs such as “Fireball”.
And “Rude Dude”.
The arena did not have a shiny disco ball so we had to settle for this large ceiling fan.
Finally a Country song; some boot-scootin “Cotton Eyed Joe”.
Don’t think we’re going to find any House music, Breakbeats or 80’s New Wave in Lexington, Virginia but it was a fun little hootenanny and a good time was had by all.
