Saturday night in the city and we began the evening in downtown Winter Park at Morse Code.We opened the door and came inside and found this!On the decks, DJ Rob Cokeless (USA).Known for his production work, he’s been doing some DJ events this year too.The club was jammed.DJ had the club bouncing.Spotted in VIP.We ran into a lot of peeps we know from the music scene.Morse Code is primarily an upscale wine bar. But on weekends you may find DJ’s or even live bands playing here.By now DJ ZZ (USA) had taken over the controls.Since it was 80’s Night she played songs such as “Dreamin” (1987), “Diamond Girl” (1986) and “Lookout Weekend” (1984). We told her she’s not old enough to know these songs.“White Horse” (1983)A good time was had by all. They do roll-up the sidewalks around 10PM in downtown Winter Park but out at Winter Park Village restaurants and bars remain lively for a few hours more. Located in the former Flutes spot is 480N Wine Bar.We opened the door and came inside and found this!It was an LQ Night and in the booth, the legendary DJ Leony (USA). Playing Latin hits during our visit last night. We first became acquainted with Leony from his weekly EDM mixshow called AirBPM which played on XM Satellite Radio. An imaginary airplane would take off from NYC to head across the country. When the plane touched down in Orlando, DJ Leony would play a one hour set before the plane took off for the next city.DJ Leony was the resident DJ on Thursday and Saturday nights at Latin Quarter in Universal CityWalk. It sadly closed in late 2013 to become Mexican restaurant Antojitos. He remains a resident DJ at radio station El Neuvo ZOL95.3 which operates from the famous 95.3Party spot on the FM radio dial.Only recognized one person last night from Latin Quarter though. Those were the days!A large bar takes up much of the room at 480N with the dance floor up front and seating along the side and rear of the venue.A good time was had by all.We next headed into the Orlando CBD for Elixir Bar. We opened the door to their famous outdoor dance patio and walked into this! The opener was still on when we first arrived: DJ Flashdrive (USA).House music all night long. We first became acquainted with DJ Flashdrive back in 2021 when he was part of the Friday night “Discotheque” night at Barbarella/Independent Bar. The shows of 70’s Disco and Nu Disco were amazing. The patio dance floor was jammed. The headliner came on shortly after our arrival.DJ Slugg (USA)We hadn’t seen him play since 2022 right here at Elixir. And the same month, in the Orlando Warehouse at the short-lived Skyline Music Festival. It got even more crowded after Slugg started his set.Nice mix of House and Tech House. There’s always a great assortment of local, national and international DJ’s playing here at Elixir including duo Tomi & Kesh (D) on July 11th, DJ Simon Doty (CDN) on July 18th and DJ Andruss (MEX) on August 22nd. Advance ticket information HERE. A good time was had by all.Our last stop was Luna Bar, located in the old Beau Monde spot along Magnolia Street. There was a DJ playing Hip Hop and Reggaeton downstairs but the good stuff was upstairs. But first we had to try to talk our way past the door hostess. In the upstairs booth, DJ E.D.H.D (USA) was playing when we first arrived. The music last night, Nu Disco aka Disco House.Just a handful here early in the show. And while the dance floor was at times relatively spartan…..The upstairs bar stayed jammed.Around midnight, DJ Mighty Shari (USA) took over. She continued with a lively Nu Disco set.We ran into a few people we know from the music scene.Around 1AM, DJ Johnny Sebastian (USA) took over. It’s called Nu Disco because it has all the elements that made 70’s Disco great but the music is new.Don’t know what he did but the dance floor suddenly got jammed! And a good time was had by all.
