Club Reports: Sail-Away Party, Schooner Bar, Safari Club, Vortex Nightclub (Serenade Of The Seas)

By now you know that if we’re traveling, we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities we’re in or the ships we’re on. Yesterday we were on a special 1-nt sailing of Royal Caribbean ship Serenade of the Seas traveling from Colon, Panama to Cartagena, Colombia.
And of course, another sail-away means another Sail-Away Party taking place by the ship’s main pool located on Deck 11 midship.
As we passed the Atlantic/Caribbean entrance to the Panama Canal, initially not a huge crowd for this 4PM show.
But as soon as the music got started, the dance floor filled-up.
Music delivered by DJ Yair (RA).
With ship guests primarily from Panama and Colombia, it should have come as no surprise that the music was close to 100% Latin.
The ship’s small animation team led the dances.
We actually recognized most of the songs from Latin nights at Orlando clubs, even if we couldn’t name them. The only song in English was “Hey! Baby” which interestingly is a song we only hear on cruise ships and never anywhere else.
Not exactly packed to the rafters like on some cruises but not bad either.
We also did hear the half-English/half-Spanish Pitbull (USA) song “I Know You Want Me”.
It was a fun Sail-Away party and a good time was had by all.
Evening arrived and while on the way to The Safari Club, we had to pass through a feature found on all Royal Caribbean ships, Schooner Bar. It’s located on Deck 6 midship on Serenade of the Seas.
With lots of old nautical theming.
The bar was busy but the venue was otherwise kind of dead.
You know we always take two (2) photos of everyone in case one of them is blurry. Sadly, only took one pic of Guitar Melodies with Jorge (E)…..and it was blurry!
They also have a pair of self-leveling pool tables in here. Very smooth seas last night so rocking was not a concern for pool players.
Our destination was The Safari Club, Deck 6 aft.
We walked into this!
There was a silent Disco going on with Latin hits on the Blue channel.
And American Top 40 hits on the Green channel.
Silent Discos are not very silent since everyone is singing out loud to the songs on their channels. Both channels last night were prerecorded. Some of our favorite silent Discos we’ve attended had 3 live DJ’s playing on 3 different channels.
It was time to get funky, doing the entire “Cha Cha Slide” while those on the Blue channel looked-on giving us a WTF (in Spanish) look.
Some of the other songs included “Barbie Girl”, “Party In The USA”, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, “Baby One More Time” and “Dancing Queen”. A good time was had by all.
The final party on this cruise was at Vortex Nightclub, Deck 13 midship.
During our early tour of the ship the dance floor and DJ booth looked like this.
When we returned after midnight, it looked like this!
DJ Yair (RA) whom we met at the Sail-Away party earlier was back in the perch.
When we exited the lift outside the club, Daddy Yankee (USA) hit “Gasolina” was playing. The club music would remain Reggaeton during out visit.
The club had this cool lighted circular bar.
And the bar and the floor surrounding it revolved! Have never seen that on a cruise ship before.
Monitors along the club walls displayed our location on our Colon to Cartagena journey.
And a good time was had by all.
