After a late night on Friday night and some air travel on Thursday, we really deserved to be able to sleep-in on Saturday morning. But who could sleep-in when “House & Coffee” was happening at Qreate Coffee in Orlando’s Creative Village district! The queues to enter no longer back-up to the corner at the end of the block like they did when this was a new monthly event last year. Entry is still free but you just need to purchase something, anything. A coffee, tea or even a croissant will get you inside. But first a friendly greeting from Jamie! And then we opened the door and ran into this!DJ Issa (USA) on the decks when we first arrived. And since this is “House & Coffee”, House music, of course. First time seeing her play. Not as crowded as what we experienced here last summer, but hardly empty either.Crowd bouncing to some Danny Tenaglia (USA) “Music Is The Answer”.And it would get even more crowded!Sets were around 45-min long and we soon had a shift change.DJ Cole Stanton (USA)His set was House too but a bit more on the EDM side.I think we heard some “Funkytown” in there.Mall Grab & Milky (I) classic dance hit “Just The Way You Are”.Cole Stanton is always animated but he was doubly so yesterday morning.Peeps! The rapidly emerging scarf trend was in effect.House plants. He had the dance floor bouncing.DJ Chino (USA) would take over next.Early in his set, another updated version of a Dance classic, Wildchild (GB) hit “Renegade Master”. 90’s remixes are a big part of today’s current House hits.Bubble music.Everyone always in a great mood at “House & Coffee”. After all, if you’re grouchy, stay in bed. DJ’s play here from about 8AM to 2PM.Why sleep when you can be here dancing to House music at 8AM!A good time was had by all. Switching from Saturday morning to Saturday night, we arrived at The Other Bar downtown in Wall Street Plaza around 9PM.Outside on the street, a huge Dominican Republic-themed party called “Dembow Con Mangu” was in progress. With music from DJ Chulo (USA) playing Dembow and Bachata. Dominican girls for the win.Focus Bob. Never mind that, we were here for the party inside The Other Bar with the music kicked-off by the legendary DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA).Lots of Classic Dance in his set such as “Fine Day” and “Better Off Alone”.Even at this early hour, a crowd was quickly growing,They have a full liquor bar here.DJ Mynd (USA) would take over next. Breaks were the order of the evening here last night and early in his set, a Breaks remix of “Sweet Child O’ Mine”. It got even more jammed!DJ Mynd had the early crowd bouncing. The Other Bar has not just one but two shiny disco balls so you know they’re legit. We ran into so many peeps we know from the Breaks scene.Spotted near the bar with Jimmy Joslin, DJ Superfly Jeff (USA) and the mysterious DJ X (USA), both of whom would play last night. DJ X would play under his DJ Boogie King (USA) alias.Indeed, Superfly Jeff would take the stage next. And he was pretty damn animated!Dance floor got jammed like they do at all Jimmy Joslin parties!A good time was had by all. Some remember it at Firestone, The Club at Firestone or Firestone Live. Some remember it as Venue 578. But for the past few years, it’s now called The Vanguard. We arrived around 11PM in order to be able to get a drink and still snag a spot along the barrier. But despite the early arrival, the dance floor was already like this!Orlando-based DJ Sosmoov (USA) was in the perch playing EDM and Commercial House.Just when we think we’ve seen every DJ in Orlando, we see someone else we don’t know. For a moment there it seemed like we had been transported to a club in Wilton Manors. But when we learned the headliners, DJ duo Galantis (S), would not be coming on until 1AM and there was no way we were going to stand there for another two hours waiting, we departed. At The Vanguard, a good time was not had by me.
