It operated for years as The Silly Grape, then briefly post-pandemic as Fredster’s and now for the past few years as Good Times Bar & Grill. We began our Friday night in north suburban Maitland. We opened the door and walked into this! The Franchise Players (USA) ft. Andrew Luv were on stage, belting out the hits. There was a 70’s/80’s set in progress when we arrived so we heard songs such as “Get Down Tonight”, “September” and “Dropped A Bomb On Me”.The dance floor was pretty damn packed. The patrons a mix of all walks of life.A few years ago when this place was still called Fredster’s, newspaper Orlando Weekly made note of the older crowd you’ll find here by commenting that this place is always busier on Social Security check days and this is where people go to try out their new hips. Ouch!Full liquor bar. They have a shiny disco ball so you know they’re legit. The Franchise Players play tonight on the Waterside Stage in Disney Springs Marketplace.A good time was had by all.We next headed over to north suburban Winter Park, home to one of that city’s few actual nightclubs, Morse Code.DJ Scot Marc (USA) was in the booth when we arrived. He was playing House. We’ve seen the place packed; last night it was a moderate-sized crowd. This is primarily a wine & cigar bar with a good assortment of light bites on the menu.Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah!DJ Ms MF (USA) taking over later.House music all night long.A good time was had by all.Next stop Orlando. Located in an old home in the Mills/50 District, another wine bar, Grape & The Grain. We came out the back door onto their covered patio and walked out to this!Taking turns doing 30-minute sets, DJ Eccentra (USA) and DJ Frankmatik (USA).More House music, with and without vocals.Dance floor was packed! The drops were putting the dancers into a frenzy. They have a shiny disco ball so you know the place is legit.Off the patio, a popular seating area.We ran into so many peeps we know from the music scene. Some were new but most we knew.Getting down!DJ Eccentra plays Disco & Nudisco tonight at Luna Bar in DTO. DJ Frankmatik plays House tonight at Alfie’s HiFi in Mills/50. We hope to see both as we make our rounds. (Editor’s Note: You know you’re dealing with an old school NYC DJ when you see them using that earphone in lieu of a headphone.) Everywhere we went last night, a good time was had by all.
