Club Reports: Gimme Gimme Disco @ The Abbey, The Robinson

Friday night in the city and we began our evening at The Abbey where it was time for their Gimme Gimme Disco event.
Arriving around 9:30PM, we walked into THIS.
You never know who’s going to DJ this event which takes place every few months but we recognized DJ Mike (USA) up there.
He’s as animated as they come and he was off the chain last night!
Of course there were lots of Abba (S) songs such as “Super Trooper” (1980), “Waterloo” (1974), “Mama Mia” (1975) and “Dancing Queen” (1976).
There were a few 80’s tunes at times but it was mostly 70’s Disco all night. The good stuff!
“Soul Train” coming through! Platforms, Go Go boots, flares and mini-dresses were in abundance.
“Gonna start dancing real soon, but first, let me take a selfie.”
It was a predominately young crowd and predominately female crowd, but there was a mix of everyone. Disco hits such as “Hot Stuff” (1979), “More Than A Woman” (1977), “He’s The Greatest Dancer” (1979) and “Boogie Shoes” (1975) kept the dance floor jammed.
We met several peeps. Some we knew but some were new.
“We Are Family” (1979), “September” (1978) and “Shake Your Groove Thing” (1978) had the club bouncing.
In November we visited the World’s Largest Disco in Buffalo (PHOTOS) and last month the World’s Smallest Disco in Berlin (PHOTOS). Gimme Gimme Disco is SO fun too!
Other DJ’s we’ve seen at this event include DJ Squeeze (USA) and DJ Alex Lord”. We’ve not yet seen posted when the next Gimme Gimme Disco will take place but you won’t want to miss it.
A good time was had…..
…..by all.
We next headed west on Pine Street to The Robinson Cocktail Room.
We climbed the stairs and walked into THIS.
The dance floor is located in an adjacent area they call the “Disco Room”.
Friday night resident DJ Chino (USA) was in the perch delivering House and EDM hits.
But he also went into a Hip Hop set reminiscent of when he was the Friday night DJ at The Groove in Universal CityWalk. We harassed him about that!
Dance floor was packed!
EDM hits such as “No Broke Boys”, “On My Mind” and “Drugs From Amsterdam” had everyone in a great mood.
It gets like this every Friday night.
Spotted in the club: DJ Chymera (USA) with his girlfriend. We had seen Chymera playing at London House just last weekend.
Spotted in the booth: The DJ Chino Fan Club.
Everywhere we went last night, a good time was had by all.
