Concert Report: AAHZ Unity (The Beacham)

Thanksgiving Eve in Orlando can only mean one thing: the AAHZ Reunion. AAHZ dates back to the late 80’s to early 90’s period when it was a club night right here at the Beacham Theater.
The event began at 9PM with the opener, DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA). The stage was kept quite dark so it was difficult to see the performers from the floor.
There was a pretty long queue outside and it would take awhile for the floor to populate.
But before the end of Jimmy Joslin’s set, it was already looking like this. His set included a lot of 80’s New Wave hits from the AAHZ era.
Spotted on the dance floor post-set: Jimmy with his gorgeous wife Krista. Don’t forget to set a placeholder for Saturday, December 21st for his annual birthday party show with details TBA. Those shows are always off the chain!
Fresh-in from Dallas, DJ Andy Hughes (USA).
Dance floor was getting active for Andy’s very old skool set!
Spotted in the official AAHZ Unity logo store: Emily and DJ Gregory B (USA).
At 10:30PM, DJ AK1200 (USA) was up next. Noted as being one of America’s premier Drum & Bass DJ’s, we were anticipating what he’d play because during the AAHZ era, DnB had not yet been invented.
Dance floor became packed during AK’s set.
And he would deliver a lot of music from 1989-1991.
We ran into so many peeps we know from the Orlando dance scene!
From the floor one could only notice the distinctive haircut from DJ Monk (USA).
As one would expect from Monk, mostly old skool Breaks.
It was difficult to move about the place.
And then at midnight, there he was!
DJ Icey (USA)
And he delivered what the crowd came for…..a lot of Breaks classics!
An Orlando native, DJ Icey is considered the inventor of Funky Breaks & Florida Breaks.
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls and it was great to see dancer Kriss Reign (USA) bouncing to Icey’s tunes.
More peeps!
All too quickly it was 1AM and time for “Dave & Kimball” doing a B2B set.
These two are the original instigators of AAHZ.
DJ Dave Cannalte (USA)
And seen here with AK1200, DJ Kimball Collins (USA).
No one was leaving just yet!
The lasers were flying.
And a good time was had by all.
