Concert Report: Labor Day Bash (House Of Blues)

In the annals of Orlando dance music history, there were places like The Edge, JJ Whispers, AAHZ at The Beacham Theater, Cyberzone and just two hundred meters from here, Mannequins Dance Palace on Pleasure Island. But on Sunday nights in Orlando, absolutely no one could compete with Service Industry Night (SIN) right here at House of Blues.
And last night we returned to Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs) on a Sunday night for the 3rd annual Labor Day Bash.
The doors opened at 7PM and this is what the dance floor looked like a few minutes prior.
He’s been on the roster for all three Labor Day Bashes…..
DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA)
Most people coming in went straight to the dance floor.
Five minutes after opening, it already looked like this.
Just as you’d want from Jimmy Joslin, a mostly Old Skool set.
Back around the turn-of-the-century, so many Dance hits were Breaks.
Dance floor view at 7:15PM.
During his set, a good luck visit from Jimmy’s main squeeze, Krista. Thanks for the pose!
Jimmy did the only 2-hour set last night, taking us to 9PM.
Filling-in fast!
OK, it was 9PM and the floor was already jammed. Now where are the later-arrivals supposed to stand!
Up next, another legend.
DJ Kimball Collins (USA)
VIP view.
Kimball did not play at last year’s Labor Day Bash but he did play at the first one in 2022.
At least at the beginning, Kimball’s set last night had kind of an AAHZ vibe to it. You know, 90’s Progressive with a lot of piano.
He then joined in the Breaks theme of the night.
When you give the people what they want, you pack the house!

Unprecedented! Spotted actually smiling: DJ Rincon (USA) along with with DJ Magic Mike (USA).
It was all too soon 10PM and time for DJ Baby Anne (USA).
Baby Anne came out of retirement for this one-off set.
She played at the first Labor Day Bash in 2022 but did not play in 2023. So this is her first time playing here in two years!
Always a fashion leader, we’re loving her gray streak.
Good mix of classic Breaks and booty Breaks.
The world’s best show dancer has relocated to Orlando: Kriss Reign (USA)
Packed to the rafters.
She had the crowd mesmerized!
For the best drinks in HOB, Angela is the one to see!
We met so many peeps last night. Some we knew but some were new.
It was suddenly 11PM and time for the Breaks legend!
DJ Icey (USA)
He’s played at all three Labor Day Bashes but we hadn’t seen him play since the last AAHZ Reunion last November!
He might have drawn the largest crowd roar of the night when he dropped his classic “The One”.
And another one for a Breaks version of Tears For Fears (GB) New Wave classic “Shout”.
And another roar for “White Horse”.
Prior to his set, DJ Icey posing with his main squeeze and Blog-favorite CJ. Thanks for the pose!
They say you can never go wrong with Go Go girls.
They were right!
More peeps we ran into last night!
“Gonna start dancing real soon, but first, let me take a selfie.”
Midnight is the “Magic” hour so it was time for a shift change!
Another legend, DJ Magic Mike (USA).
Magic Mike was a resident DJ here at House of Blues Sunday night SIN and he headlined the final SIN back when Disney shut it down in October, 2015. LINK
All the DJ’s were animated last night and Magic Mike is famous for his moves.
He played Booty Breaks, he played some extremely Hard Bass. There was even a Breaks version of Eric Prydz (S) hit “Generate”.
Near the end, Mrs. Hampton tossing free tee shirts.
And dancing too!
There was craziness all over the club!
That look you get from great Breaks!
Prior to going on stage, Magic Mike posing with his main squeeze Que Peace. Thanks for the pose!
Another one for the books! If you missed it, you really missed it.
A good time was had by all. Or, perhaps, for that one guy on the left, too good of a time!
