Concert Report: Summer Breaks 2 (Iron Cow) By King Bob in Concerts August 11, 2024 This past June we got to attend Summer Breaks 1 at The Hammered Lamb. Last night, Summer Breaks 2 arrived at the Iron Cow. But first we had to get past Door Hostess Michelle who scrutinized our pass and double-checked her list to make sure we were really authorized to be there! Some people actually thought hugs could get them in. Even though we had arrived relatively early, The Cow was already crowded as was the bar. We had missed the two opening sets but arrived in time to see the 9:30PM set from DJ Tooltime (USA). DJ Losman (USA), who is president of the Orlando chapter of the DJ Tooltime Fan Club, was showing his support. Tooltime’s set included a lot of EDM hits such as from DJ John Summit (USA), remixed to a Breakbeat. Spotted on the dance floor: Jody Marie & Jeannie Marie. LOL, Losman’s days as chapter president may be numbered. Coming on at 10:30PM….. DJ Heather Collins (USA) She was so animated all evening! Her set varied from Jungle Bass, some DnB and of course straight-on Breaks. MC MB (USA) provided some narrative. Heather Collins looked resplendent in her iridescent corset top, black miniskirt and black tall boots. Dance floor had gotten packed by this juncture. Spotted working the boards: Iron Cow resident DJ Atnarko (USA). This was two nights-in-a-row for us at Iron Cow but when the music is great as it usually is here, you go! That look you get from great Breaks! That look you get from great Breaks! So much enthusiasm down on the floor. Heather’s set sadly came to a conclusion. And then at 11:30PM, there he was, one of the two headliners playing last night….. DJ Left/Right (USA) We thought we had seen him play previously but could find no corroboration in the Blog archives. Left/Right’s set was diverse too with Progressive Electro, Progressive Breaks and Vocal Breaks. To show our diversity, we’ll point out that Left/Right looked resplendent wearing a kimono-style top over shorts topped by a baseball cap. He drew a roar from the crowd during the final 45 minutes or so of his set when we went into straight and loud Breaks! We were introduced to DJ Lowco (USA) who had played earlier just prior to Tooltime. We ran into so many peeps from the scene. Some were new but many we knew! And then around 12:45AM, there she was, the other headliner….. DJ J.Phlip (USA) As a Dirtybird Records recording artist, we were wondering if she would go Dirtybird House on us or stick with the evening’s Breaks theme. But those in the know told us they had seen her put up a mean Breaks set previously and that’s exactly what she did! Some labeled it as Tech Breaks. J.Phlip looked resplendent in her white oversized record label tee worn over black flared mesh leggings. Beyond 1AM and no one was leaving just yet! Great show and a good time was had by all.
