Club Reports: High Tide, Elixir Bar, Barbarella

Saturday night brought us downtown again and we began the evening at High Tide.
Here we found DJ Panda (USA) in the booth playing mostly Classic Hip Hop and other 90’s hits.
Originally called Latitudes, the rooftop venue took on the new name High Tide after a heavy renovation that involved removing and replacing every one of those wood flooring planks.
The main bar also received an entirely new awning above it.
As a rooftop bar, you’re literally “dancing with the stars”.
Frozen concoction specialist Chillers is on the ground floor, sports bar Cahoots is on the middle floor and then High Tide is up here on the rooftop. Admission to all the venues are free.
If it seems like we spend a lot of time at Elixir Bar, it’s because we do! So many great DJ’s play here.
Their famous dance patio was already jammed when we arrived!
TJ and Justin are…..DJ duo Yokai (USA).
Making a name for themselves over the past few years, we had just seen them performing on the Horizon Stage at Sunset Music Festival in Tampa a few months ago.
And a few months prior to that, on the kineticFIELD main stage at EDC-Orlando.
As the midnight magic hour approached, there were still a few gaps on the dance floor but not for long.
Because then, there he was!
DJ Chapter & Verse (GB)
He was vocal, he was animated and he was having a great time playing Orlando!
His set had the crowd bouncing!
As an outdoor patio venue, you’re literally “dancing with the stars”.
Spotted on the dance floor: DJ FRNKROK (USA) from Universal CityWalk and Promo Only, seen here with his beautiful wife.
Spotted in VIP: Justin from Yokai along with DJ Flashdrive (USA) and DJ Horny Dave (USA).
Spotted in the Tech Booth: DJ Pantoja (USA)
Spotted backstage: Courtney and friend.
House music (and some Tech House) all night long!
By now the dance floor had become impassable!
Dirtybird Records recording artist Justin Martin (USA) plays here at Elixir on October 7th and that’s one you won’t want to miss. You can get tickets for all Elixir events here.
One final stop for a dose of Goth. Located in a warehouse off John Young Parkway, the building says Clearone Badminton on it but on Saturday nights, Barbarella is located in it.
Resident DJ Kimball Collins (USA) was on the decks but he doesn’t like his picture taken.
The Saturday night music format is 80’s New Wave and Alternative. Wear your favorite color when you come to Barbarella, as long as your favorite color is black!
Spotted in VIP: DJ Rob Bates (USA) with Heather.
Spotted by the bar: DJ Rob flanked by Jason, Brian TwoHorns and dancer DefenzMechanizm.
Barbarella goes into the darker genres of music (Industrial, Goth, Synthpop, etc.) on the second Friday of every month for “Memento Mori”. Because of the upcoming holiday weekend, the September schedule has been altered and there will be a special edition of MM this Sunday, September 3rd and then again on Friday, September 15th.
Everywhere we went last night, a good time was had by all.
