Club Reports: Monkey Bar, Barbarella, Orlando Amphitheater

Saturday night in the city and Blog-favorite Monkey Bar was on our itinerary.
We arrived to find DJ Dack (USA) in the booth.
House music brought out a contingent.
Spotted on the dance floor: DJ Dity (USA) and Amelia.
DJ Dity is the Friday-Saturday night resident DJ at Monkey Bar and he would take over next.
In the vast sea of Hip Hop that is Wall Street Plaza, Monkey Bar is an island oasis of House & Techno.
The outdoor balcony was also active.
Spotted on Wall Street: Samantha (right) with friend.
We also visited Barbarella last night!
DJ Rob Bates (USA) was in the booth when we arrived.
Along with Lighting Tech Ernie Plowden (USA).
Barbarella is generally only open on Saturday nights with a bonus night the 2nd Friday of each month.
On Saturdays, the music is mostly 80’s New Wave and Alternative. On the bonus Fridays, the music gets darker with Goth, Industrial, Synthpop, Dark Wave and EBM.
Many of the “Girls of Barbarella” were spotted on the dance floor last night including Emily.
Angelique
Cherice
Susan
Karen
Resident DJ Indie John (USA) is on holiday over in Europe so DJ Rob was providing the tunes. Rob will be back next Saturday night too!
His selections kept the dance floor busy.
Next stop was the Central Florida Fairgrounds (as seen in this file photo).
It was a music festival atmosphere even though just 4 DJ’s were playing from one stage.
Lots of bars and food trucks.
There was even a Logo Store with merchandise for last night’s headliner…..
DJ Illenium (USA)
An incessant fog machine made it really difficult to see let alone photograph Illenium.
Taking place at Orlando Amphitheater within the fairgrounds, the place was absolutely packed!
They had some cool effects besides the expected lasers such as fireworks, sparks…..
…..and fire!
Illenium’s music drifts over to the Heavy Bass/Dubstep side at times but it’s mostly Future Bass and thus more mainstream. He’s had close to 60 of his songs make it to Billboard Magazine‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Music chart and he played a lot of them last night.
I thought yesterday’s rain might lead to a bunch of no-shows but that definitely didn’t happen.
We had been out here for the Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival last month LINK and the atmosphere last night was really similar but just on a smaller scale.
Everywhere we went last night but especially here at the Orlando Amphitheater, a good time was had by all.
