Restaurant Report: White Castle Opens In Orlando!

Orlando Entertainment News does not typically dabble in restaurant openings but when that restaurant is the world’s largest White Castle, how could we miss it? Located at the corner of Palm Parkway and Darryl Carter Parkway in Lake Buena Vista, they opened Monday morning at 8AM to an amazingly huge crowd!
Television media was there to cover the event!
Radio media was there to cover it too.
Promptly at 8AM, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings was there for opening comments along with White Castle corporate dignitaries.
My 7:35AM arrival meant that the Disney-style queues were not completely occupied yet.
But the back of the line wasn’t too far away. Sadly, that guy with the copper-colored shirt had to be at work at 11AM and had to leave before he got inside because the line moved so slowly.
And we waited and waited as the queue snaked closer and closer to the destination. Much of the line is under covered tents.
Finally, the building was visible!
Many came out with boxes and boxes of White Castle’s famous sliders. No wonder the line was so slow when people were ordering burgers by the hundreds!
In sight, must be right! (Apologies to Steak’N Shake.)
Once inside, you could order at the counter or from several kiosks. Drive-thru was also an option.
A busy crew tried to keep up with the orders!
Sliders by the hundreds!
When I sat down at a table with my bag of food at 11:35AM, it had been exactly 4 hours since i joined the line.
White Castle shares a parking lot with the yet-to-open Chicago-based Portillo’s. You can park here if spaces are available.
When I departed around noon after “dining-in”, the line to get to White Castle stretched down Daryl Carter Parkway well-past the new Lake Buena Vista High School complex.
These cars would wait literally 4-5 hours to get their turns. My recommendation is thus to arrive really early. I’m told that many parked in the Target parking lot on Daryl Carter Parkway on the other side of I-4 and walked across the overpass. Not sure the rules on that but you’d have to take caution due to the heavy traffic. Or come back next month!
