By now you know that if we\u2019re traveling, we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities we\u2019re in or the ships we\u2019re on. On Thursday we boarded\u00a0Royal Caribbean<\/em>\u00a0ship\u00a0Harmony of the Seas<\/em>\u00a0which was doing a special 2-nt sailing to their private island\u00a0CocoCay<\/em>\u00a0in the Bahamas. We arrived Friday morning. Actually, known as Little Stirrup Cay but marketed by Royal Caribbean <\/em>as CocoCay<\/em>, it is that cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The dock supports two ships at a time. Our massive ship Harmony of the Seas<\/em> out of Port Canaveral on the right shared the dock with the even more massive Icon of the Seas<\/em> out of Port Miami on the left.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The island including beach chairs and umbrellas are free. Lunch on the island is also included in your cruise fare. If you want to get away from the hoi polloi, there is an upcharge to go to HideAway Beach <\/em>club, a distant exclusive area best-accessible via trams.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
It has several bars including a swim-up bar. If you have a drink package on the ship, it’s valid on CocoCay <\/em>too.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The food at HideAway Beach<\/em> is included too. When we saw they had all-you-can-eat funnel cakes on the menu, we knew we had to go!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
There’s a private beach and huge pool. The swim-up bar is under that awning to the middle rear.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
On that island in the middle of the pool is the DJ booth, only accessible by swimming or perhaps inflatable watercraft.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In the booth we spotted from a distance DJ Ampero (BS) and the music was just about completely EDM and Classic Dance during our visit. The Nassau-based DJ plays frequently at the Atlantis Resort<\/em> on Paradise Island. It wasn’t practical for us to swim there with our camera so we had to settle for this distant shot.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Just off Little Stirrup Cay (CocoCay) <\/em>is Great Stirrup Cay, the private island operated by NCL<\/em>. The only ship using their brand new dock yesterday was Norwegian Luna<\/em>. One of Norwegian<\/em>‘s newest ships, we need to check her out! Both islands are part of the Berry Island chain in the Bahamas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Back-on-board, we visited Boleros<\/em>, the ship’s Latin dance club. Primarily a Salsa & Merengue club with a live band, it was being used during the dinner hour last night for Name That Tune: Abba. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
MC Abby (PE) was playing twenty 2-second to 8-second snippets of Abba (S) tunes and it was not easy!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The bar and lounge were surprisingly busy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
While there were several easy songs such as “Dancing Queen” and “Mama Mia”, the short snippets made it hard to identify songs such as “Eagle”, “Money Money Money” and “Waterloo”. Even if you recognized the tune, you also had to know the name because this was, after all, Name That Tune . The woman who won only got 10 out of the 20. Fun though and you can never go wrong with Abba!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

On the first night we visited Dazzles <\/em>nightclub on Decks 8\/9 aft when they had a DJ playing. During our visit early on the second night, they had a live band playing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
It was only around 8PM and we walked into this.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The band “Shock Waves” (MEX) was on the club’s stage.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The music was Top 40.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We had actually already seen them play once previously on the first night in the ship’s Promenade.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The music had a handful dancing. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
That guy upstairs was having a good time.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
For our final stop of the night, we next returned to the ship’s Royal Promenade<\/em>, a long hallway filled with shops, restaurants and home to many of the ship’s parties. All the larger Royal Caribbean<\/em> ships have a Royal Promenade<\/em>. We arrived early for their Decades Party.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

From the stage overlooking the promenade, this duo was singing 70’s tunes such as “I Love The Nightlife”, “Everlasting Love” and “Rock The Boat”.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The Decades Party began around 9PM with the 70’s. The cruise director and her entertainment team started the party with “Stayin’ Alive”, “Get Down On It” and “Hot Stuff”.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The Village People (USA) were onboard this cruise and they performed “In The Navy” and…..<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
“YMCA”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The promenade was filled as far as the eye could see.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We soon moved into the 80’s and Michael Jackson (USA) was also on this cruise. He performed “Beat It”. We’ve seen far-better MJ impressions, lol.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We next went 80’s Heavy Metal hair band Rock with Twisted Sister (USA) “We’re Not Going To Take It”.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The clientele on this sailing was all ages so there was music for everyone.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We soon moved into the 90’s and were so fortunate to have the Backstreet Boys (USA) on the ship too. Originally formed in Orlando, they performed “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back”).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Long live the 90’s!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Of course the 90’s were defined by Hip Hop and the genre got a nod with “Everybody Dance Now” and “Tootsie Roll”.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It was a fun, well-done party.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
A good time was had by all. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
