The Axe Trap<\/em> is located on Lee Road in north suburban Winter Park, just east of I-4. It’s thee place to go to throw some axes but forget about that on Saturday nights as it becomes dance club Barbarella<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We arrived around 10PM this visit and activity was just picking-up. We walked into this.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Just as it should be on Saturday night, DJ Indie John (USA) in the booth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The music all 80’s New Wave and Alternative.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We’ve been following Indie John and Barbarella\/Independent Bar<\/em> since 2009 shortly after Pleasure Island<\/em> closed and we began going downtown. (Photo from the Blog <\/em>archives taken in 2011.)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Those great 80’s songs haven’t changed; everyone still dancing and singing out loud last night to songs by New Order (GB), A Flock of Seagulls (GB), Human League (GB), Sin\u00e9ad O’Connor (IRL)…..<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
…..and Devo (USA) and Deee Lite (USA) and Duran Duran (GB).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

All that music last night was accompanied by original music videos.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Barbarella <\/em>has a shiny disco ball over the dance floor so you know they’re legit.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Spotted in the booth: DJ Rob Bates (USA). He will be spinning here next Saturday night.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Dance floor activity usually picks-up around 11PM and it can get crowded out there.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
A good time was had by all.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We try not to go to the same venues on back-to-back weekends (let alone on back-to-back nights) so that you can see all the nightclub options out there. But then you have venues like Iron Cow<\/em> that consistently have top international, national and local DJ’s playing and it’s hard to stay away. When we heard last night “Discoteria” was happening, we couldn’t not go.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

So we leaped a decade from the 80’s at Barbarella <\/em>to the 70’s at Iron Cow<\/em>. We walked into this.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We found DJ Mighty Shari (USA) in the booth when we first arrived.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Playing mostly Disco House.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Dance floor wasn’t as packed as Friday night but there were a lot of people in the club.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Disco House aka Nu-Disco are newer songs with that 70’s Disco vibe.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Party in VIP!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Iron Cow <\/em>has a shiny disco ball over the dance floor so you know they’re legit.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We ran into several familiar faces on the dance floor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Around midnight, DJ BOHAV (USA) took over the controls and took everyone to another level.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A resident DJ at Good Night John Boy<\/em> in downtown St. Petersburg, we were seeing him for the first time.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
His set had the club bouncing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We heard songs like “Boogie Wonderland”, “Stayin’ Alive” and “Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee)”.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Checking the Blog <\/em>archives we realized we haven’t been to Good Night John Boy<\/em> since 2023 and we need to get back over there. DTSP has an awesome club scene and you can find our 2023 article about it HERE<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
