It’s another sad weekend in downtown Orlando as four more bars and clubs are permanently closing. Motorworks Brewing may already be closed as they were not operating last night. The little bar with the big bar inside, Oliv Bar, is on its final weekend.A long time ago, Treehouse, was one of our downtown favorites. When they first opened it operated as kind of a secret speakeasy, operating from this originally unmarked door on Magnolia Street.First you climbed the stairs and went up into the tree. One of the main attractions at Treehouse is grabbing a drink or shot and then chilling picnic-style on the grass floor! We did that one last time last night. (Check out our article this coming Monday on OEN titled “The Girls Of Treehouse”)No DJ here, just music being piped-in from the Attic next door.Always a great vibe in here; everyone is happy. The bath tub was a great spot to take selfies.Adjacent to Treehouse was Attic Nightclub and it too is closing this weekend. When we walked into the main room there was a crowd in the DJ booth but no one on the dance floor.DJ Laz (USA)The music was mostly Hip Hop during our visit.People passing through but no one stopping.Back when Attic opened this was a great EDM club; music delivered by resident DJ Alex Wood (USA) as seen in this 2016 photo from the Blog archives. The venue was popular with UCF students and ownership cites them not coming downtown much anymore for one of their reasons for closing. They also cite the city’s onerous club regulations. Attic Nightclub had a shiny disco ball so you know they were legit.Nonetheless, on this final weekend, a good time was had by all.The Halloween-themed Cocktails & Screams permanently closed last month.Google has for months listed Saints & Sinners Cantina as Temporarily closed. But that”Available” sign on the window is an indication that they are now permanently closed too.And of course Tanqueray’s had their final night on NYE. The city’s apparent goal is to put all downtown bars and clubs out of business so that better things can move in. But nothing except more smoke shops and tattoo parlors are moving in and downtown is becoming the proverbial “vast wasteland” with apologies to Newton N. Minow. One place that is not closing is Country bar Stagger Inn.We walked into this!In the corner booth last night, DJ Mynd (USA).This guy is everwhere! In the recent past we’ve seen him playing at The Other Bar, Atlantic Dance Hall and The Edison Orlando. Last night he was playing about 80% Country and 20% Pop.Glad to see the DJ booth at ground level. In the past it was up high past the bar and behind those television monitors. In this old photo from the Blog archives, one can spot the DJ booth up there. If you’re looking for Country music downtown, Stagger Inn and Rodeo are your two options. We next headed over to Orlando’s Milk District, home to Iron Cow.Where we walked into this!DJ Mighty Shari (USA) was in the booth playing House. The place was absolutely packed. And about 75% female too!The DJ booth was down on the dance floor because the stage was being used for a hair show on this night titled “Scandalous Hair & House”.Interesting.Mighty Shari had the dance floor bouncing. She likes playing with balls.Iron Cow has a shiny disco ball so you know they’re legit. We ran into numerous peeps we know from the Orlando music scene.Thank you everyone for your poses. At midnight the headliner took over: DJ Antonia Rivano (RCH/USA)She would continue with a mostly non-vocal House set.Always a great vibe at her “Tun Tun” shows. And a good time was had…..…..by all.
