This is Wall Street Plaza in beautiful downtown Orlando.
And among the 8 or so bars/clubs that make up Wall Street Plaza, last night we were at The Other Bar for the annual Jimmy Joslin Birthday Party show.
The Other Bar has this massive wraparound bar that was jammed all night last night. And in the far corner, this inspirational message for the ladies. We had arrived fashionably late so we sadly missed the opening set from Jimmy’s son, DJ Gavin Joslin (USA). Instead, we found DJ Vail (USA) in the booth located in the far corner of the main room. Of course, Breaks were the order of the evening.Until recently he had been the resident DJ at the Underground a block away.Dance floor was bouncing. And was beginning to get jammed. The music was so good.Up next, the birthday boy himself, the legendary DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA).Playing some Breaks versions of “White Horse”, “Don’t You Worry Child” and “Set You Free”.It was great to see so many familiar faces!DJ had the club bouncing. Those looks you get from great Breaks.Getting down to a mashup of “Love Tonight” with “Sweet Dreams”.You can never go wrong with Go Go girls.Outside on the plaza, intermittent snow showers were passing through at times. We ran into so many peeps from the local music scene!DJ Mark Sanchez (USA) flanked by Jimmy Joslin and Gavin Joslin. Mark & Jimmy join-up with DJ Magic Mike (USA), DJ KJ of K5 (USA), DJ Tooltime (USA) and DJ Johnny Park (USA) on NYE at Grandview Live in Daytona Beach with advance tickets available HERE.Handling the 11:30PM shift (2330 for our international readers), DJ Evolv3 (USA).Usually mild-mannered, he was so animated last night.Songs such as “Coke Diet” and “Stay In Love” kept the dance floor packed. You know you’re in the right place when you see Carl and Dorsey on the dance floor. The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire; We don’t need no water, let the motherfucker burn. More peeps!Making his first DJ appearance in nearly a decade, DJ Justin Faze (USA) was up next. He was nervous following the long absence but I told him to just press the “PLAY” button like everyone else does, lol. With his name now on the wall behind him, there was no turning back!He did just fine.Dance floor stayed jammed. As 1AM approached, no one was leaving just yet.The votes are in…..he still got it!The last time we saw Justin Faze play was in 2015 when he and Jimmy were resident DJ’s at long-gone Native Social Bar over on Church Street. So it was great to see him back in the perch.Jimmy would come back on to close out the night. Great show, great crowd. A good time was had by all.
