“We’re going back to Kali, Kali, Kali……” Third visit to Kali Ultra Lounge although this was our first visit since they finally released their new name. They had been operating since they opened a few months ago under the Mangos Ultra Lounge or Mangos Upstairs names.We arrived around 10PM last night to find a small crowd already on the dance floor.We found the opener DJ Noel Sanger (USA) in the booth when we arrived. A mostly House set from him last night although we were told there were some Progressive Breaks in there too which we thought was Tech House. They’re all a blur!We last saw Noel Sanger perform one year ago at Electric Daisy Carnival-Orlando. Hope to see you all there, under the electric sky.Dance floor began to get more populated.Party in VIP!Always great to see Noel Sanger.Not only does Kali Ultra Lounge have a great sound system, they also have an amazing light system.It’s definitely the most-impressive in Orlando.DJ’s! We saw DJ’s! Spotted in the foyer: DJ Tooltime (USA) with DJ Burufunk (USA).Spotted on the dance floor: Burufunk with DJ Keri (USA).Spotted by the booth: Nicole with DJ Seth Vogt (USA).Just before 11PM and DJ Carlos Mendoza (USA) taking over.His set a journey of Techno to Tech House to House and back to Techno.He had the club bouncing.Not only was the dance floor in front of the booth filled but all the areas further away were getting active too. It’s a pretty large club.Although he was playing here at Kali last night, you can find Carlos every Saturday night playing with DJ Romano Arcaini (D/USA) not far from here at Vines Grill & Wine Bar on Sand Lake Road.You can never go wrong with Go Go girls.Always great to see Carlos Mendoza on the decks.We ran into so many peeps from the local scene!And then at 12:30AM, OMG! There he was, the headliner, the legend…..DJ Paul Oakenfold (GB)The club went crazy!Known historically as a Trance DJ, his set last night was a bit of everything.A really great feature of Kali Ultra Lounge is that you can be right up front with some of the world’s greatest DJ’s.Spotted: Paul Oakenfold wearing a Paul Oakenfold tee-shirt. Awesome!We last saw Paul Oakenfold perform back in November, 2000 at Ace Cafe. This was at the tail-end of the covid19 crisis so everyone had to be masked-up even though it was outdoors.We give Paul Oakenfold full credit for the DJ-craze that developed in Las Vegas. He was the first world-class DJ to get a residency at a casino/club when he played weekly at Rain Nightclub inside The Palms Casino Resort. That led to nearly every casino in town having to open a mega-club and signing DJ’s to exclusive contracts.Dance floor stayed jammed.Moving about the club had become close to impassable! But what a great show and a good time was had by all.
