Fallen Flags: Po’ Folks (Pensacola) By King Bob in Other Entertainment August 15, 2024 Earlier this year on OEN we introduced a new occasional feature called “Fallen Flags” where we visit an old school restaurant chain that is mostly no longer in business. In January we visited the last remaining Morrison’s Cafeteria location in Mobile, Alabama and in May we visited the last remaining Quincy’s Family Steakhouse in Florence, South Carolina. Earlier this week we made the trek to Pensacola, Florida, home to one of only 5 remaining Po’ Folks. At one time Po’ Folks operated 102 restaurants in 17 states, particularly in the southern United States. Now there are only 5. The above foyer area shows that they remain big on “Southern” or “Country” English. We arrived shortly after their 11AM opening, ready to eat some southern comfort food. Just a few others here at this early hour but nearly every table was full by Noon. A snap-look at the menu showing their homestyle veggies. I went with the gizzard dinner with mashed potatoes, corn-on-the-cob and cornbread. It was SO good. Besides Pensacola, the other 4 locations are in Niceville near Fort Walton Beach and in Lynn Haven and Callaway near Panama City Beach. There is also one in St. Petersburg. Come support this amazing chain before they’re all gone. Our prior Fallen Flags article about Morrison’s Cafeteria can be found here and our visit to Quincy’s can be found here. As they say up here in the Florida panhandle, yee-haw! Social:TwitterFacebookEmailLinkedInRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppPocketTelegramLike this:Like Loading...
