Club Reports: The H, The Terrace At Norman’s, Heist Lounge

After last weekend in Cancun and Tampa, it was great to be back in Orlando last night. But we didn’t venture downtown, no, we headed over to the Dr. Phillips district of town near Sand Lake Road where a number of restaurants turn into clubs at night with DJ music. We began at The H.
Here we found DJ Walgee (RDA/USA) in the booth located at one end of the room.
At the other end, this large bar was seeing activity. The venue is upscale so no logo tees, ball caps or flip flops please.
People were still dining but before 11PM these tables would be cleared and it becomes a dance floor!
The music during our visit was on the Chill House side but it becomes full blown House, EDM and Top 40 hits after the switchover. The H is located on Dr. Phillips Blvd just north of Sand Lake Road.
Less than a half mile away as the bird flies, Norman’s is another restaurant with a club vibe.
We passed through the restaurant’s interior and directly outside to The Terrace at Norman’s.
We were greeted by Erol Goldman, the host of this brand new Friday/Saturday night party on The Terrace. Of course we know Erol from his days at TSAR speakeasy in the Lake Eola district nearly a decade ago.
DJ V-Stylez (USA) was on the decks and he tells us he’s the Friday night DJ here.
The restaurant inside has a bar and then outdoors here on their terrace, another bar.
And it got crowded quick!
The music was mostly EDM and House including some Hip Hop hits that had been remixed to an EDM beat. We even heard a Bad Bunny (USA) House remix!
The vibe here is older guys with their younger chicks. Me likes!
The dancing was just getting started before it was time for us to be moving on! The Terrace at Norman’s is located at the corner of Sand Lake Road and Della Drive. Admission and parking are free. You shouldn’t dress like a slob here either.
We cover the International Drive music scene several times per year but our next stop at Heist Lounge was further south on Parc Corniche Drive just off I-Drive.
We were greeted in the lobby by DJ Circle K (USA) who had played earlier but was now also serving as door host.
We arrived to this crowd already on the dance floor.
This was a night of Drum & Bass and DJ Reflections (USA) was in the booth delivering the fast stuff.
Of course you can’t have proper DnB without some narration and last night Victoria dba MC Vixen Stylee (USA) was doing just that!
As was MC Collaborator (USA).
Reflections is based in Jacksonville and it was our first time seeing him play.
It never got that crowded but there was a decent-sized crowd.
At midnight, DJ Kay-S (USA) would take control.
MC Cee H. Blak (USA) provided the needed vocals.
The fast beats were no match for Kim!
Nor for Jasmin!
Kay-S is based in Tampa and it was our first time seeing him play too!
And then at 1AM, there he was! The headliner…..the DnB legend…..
DJ MAKOTO (J)
Electric Daisy Carnival rolls into Orlando in just two weeks and Torque-branded Drum & Bass will be featured at the Parliament Art Car stage all day/night on the Saturday. That stage features the previously mentioned DJ Circle K with MC Collaborator plus legend DJ AK1200 (USA). Also, DJ Fury with MC Dino (USA) has played at more EDC-Orlando’s than any other artist and they also play on that Saturday on the circuitGROUNDS stage!
The music was fast & furious!
MAKOTO plays tonight at Tabu in San Juan.
Dance floor got jammed and a good time was had by all.
