Club Reports: Spinnaker Lounge (Norwegian Jade)

By now you know that if we’re traveling we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities or ships we’re on. So here we were at the Port of Athens in Piraeus, Greece for another cruise, this one on Norwegian Cruise Line‘s ship Norwegian Jade.
Piraeus is one of the largest cruise ports in Europe. Some of the other ships in port this past Sunday included Virgin Cruises Resilient Lady…..
Regent Seven Seas Voyager
Azamara Pursuit and MSC Musica were also in port.
Greece includes more than 100 inhabited islands so the capital is connected with many of them via various ferries including overnight services with cabins. Blue Star Ferries, SeaJets, Minoan Lines and Hellenic Seaways are all here.
In the atrium of Norwegian Jade, we found pianist Roddy (GB) on the keys.
The music, low-key Classics.
Out on the pool deck, more music.
Duo Nightlights (ZA) was playing the music.
Dance floor had a contingent for 80’s hits from Wham! (GB), Kenny Loggins (USA), Madonna (USA), Tears For Fears (GB) and Don Henley (USA). There were also a bunch of 70’s from the likes of Fleetwood Mac (GB), The Carpenters (USA) & Elton John (GB).
You could tell from the way these two were moving that they’re professional dancers of some sort.
On Monday morning we stopped in Kusadasi, Turkey and on Monday evening, the island of Patmos, Greece (pictured above). Patmos is famous for the Cave of the Apocalypse where St. John of Patmos supposedly wrote the Book of Revelations. Atop that mountain, a fortresslike 11th-century monastery dedicated to the saint.
The town below is named Skala and has this cute central square filled with bars, restaurants and souvenir shops.
Forgot to move those flowers to get the full name of this cocktail bar.
What caught our attention was the music coming out of it.
House music from DJ Nicholas (GR).
Plenty of Greek ouzo selections and more!
Monday evening and back on the ship at their main dance club, Spinnaker Lounge.
Arriving just before midnight, there was a crowd on the dance floor.
The music delivered from the booth by DJ Maff (WV).
A lot of classic Top 40/Hip Hop cruise ship hits kept the dance floor active. Songs included “Apple Bottom Jeans”, “Jump Around” and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”.
We always make fun of the “Cha Cha Slide” but when it got played, we had to be out there, lol.
We don’t have the drink package but while we remained in Greek waters, the ship couldn’t sell alcohol so they gave it away! Free Titos & Tonics for me.
Rear views during the song “Rump Shaker”. “All I wanna do is zooma-zoomzoomzoom and a boom-boom.”
At Spinnaker Lounge on Night 2 of this cruise, a good time was had by all.
But wait, there was more! Most NCL ships include an O’Sheehan’s Bar & Grill, a 24/7 restaurant with FREE salads, dogs, burgers and…..
WINGS! A good time really was had by all! Even at 2AM.
