By now you know that if we’re traveling we like to share entertainment choices in the various cities or ships we’re on. And it was good to be back on the ship Margaritaville at Sea Paradise last night which does 2-night sailings from Port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island. It was a good relaxing way to decompress following Electric Daisy Carnival – Orlando.The ship is the former Costa Classica so it’s a bit old. However, it was completely refurbished in its conversion to the Margaritaville brand so she is in good shape and spotlessly clean, even if it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that newer ships contain. And sailing is cheap.At the Sail-Away party we met DJ Branko (SRB) who would play the requisite “Cupid Shuffle”, “Wobble” and “Cha Cha Slide”. Typical outside cabin on the ship. While the all-teak cabinetry is old, the carpet and soft goods are all new and it’s cozy and comfortable. Cruises are 2-nights which means basically 1 full day away and that is in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. U.S. citizens don’t need a passport; an original birth certificate with raised seal is sufficient. The Stars on the Water Theater is located Deck 8 aft and is the ship’s main public room.And it’s home to “Jimmy’s Ship Show”, the Jimmy Buffet (USA) themed musical journey.The 45-minute production had a completely different cast from when we watched during our September sailing. It’s so cute though and they perform the same show both nights. Songs included “Changes In Latitudes”, “Son of a Son of a Sailor”, “I Don’t Know”, “Fins”, “Come Monday” and of course “Cheeseburger In Paradise”.The Euphoria Lounge is a large lounge located Deck 8 amidship. With duo Rumba Mania (CO) performing, the first night Decades Party seemed promising. It wasn’t.Advertised as a show featuring music from the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s, we began with “YMCA”.The ships animation team was on hand so this was a good 70’s start to the night. “Macarena” was next.But that was it! Every other song was Latin salsa or Bachata. This was a Latin night, not a Decades party! During our September sailing the Sunset Band (BR) played many oldies!The ship’s disco is called the Oasis Room and is located on Deck 9 aft beyond the casino.We found DJ Branko in the booth playing mostly Hip Hop. That was expected because that’s what you get on cruise sailings out of south Florida.The crowd was growing.Just one couple on the dance floor initially. I complained to the DJ about the music at the Decades party and he humorously responded that maybe the music was “80’s & 90’s Latin”, lol.Later the dance floor would get filled and a good time was had by all.
