Friends, family and the local dance music community are reacting to the death of Steff Deschamps, best known as DJ Funkbaby (USA), in a car accident early Sunday morning. Always in a great mood, she was a positive influence on everyone she encountered. We searched our photo archives to find our first photos of Funkbaby. The one above was taken at Suite B Lounge in September of 2011 doing what she loved best, playing Breaks.Almost a year later in July of 2012, we found her in that same booth with DJ Scarlett (USA). Over the years we would see her on the decks many more times.Much more recently, she closed the program at the “Resurrection – Ladies of Bass” show in Melbourne this past June where she delivered a mostly DnB set for us!And our last photo taken of Steff, spotted here outside Grumpys Underground this past July posing with DJ Beezie (USA). We loved her new nose stud. Steff was loved by everyone and will sorely be missed from the scene.
