Club Reports: AC Sky Bar, The Vanguard

AC Sky Bar is the new place to go downtown to show off how refined and sophisticated you are! It’s located in the SunTrust Plaza office building as part of the new AC Hotel by Marriott.
The hotel’s lobby and Reception desk are located up on the 18th floor with hotel rooms located even higher on the floors above.
Here in the lobby you’ll find an inside bar. But take that door you see to the left…..
…..and it leads you to this outdoor bar on the 18th floor balcony! Business was brisk last night on this awesome February evening in Florida.
DJ Willie (USA) was on the decks playing House music.
Nice view across I-4 to Amway Center where that red tower is home to what was previously 180 Grey Goose Lounge and more recently 180 Skytop Lounge. They’ve been closed since covid19 came to town but plan to reopen on February 19th after the Orlando Magic game. Their new name will be Sky Lounge at Amway Center, not to be confused with AC Sky Bar here at SunTrust Plaza.
Tracks used by CSX, Amtrak & SunRail pass next to the building so it’s a great place for trainspotting.
There are DJ’s at AC Sky Bar on Friday & Saturday nights until 11:30PM. As the venue gets more popular, perhaps we’ll see this go later!
You might know this building as Firestone, The Club at Firestone, Firestone Live or Venue 578. But after a 2+ year renovation that completely gutted the place, it’s now The Vanguard and home to big name DJ shows such as Diplo (USA) last weekend.
Arriving fashionably late, the dance floor was already crowded.
With House music delivered by DJ John Summit (USA).
There were white lasers.
Red lasers.
Blue lasers.
There’s also the requisite shiny disco ball.
Which was blazing!
We had seen John Summit a few weeks ago in Tampa when he opened for Green Velvet (USA). LINK
The Vanguard was crowded last night but nothing even close to the numbers here last week for Diplo.
1AM arrived and there was our headliner!
DJ Solardo (GB)
House music all night long.
Spotted in the front row, of course: Amelia, Storm, Mariaha & DJ Dack (USA)
So far they’ve not scheduled events here every week but I’m sure that will change. DJ duo Cash Cash (USA) plays next here on February 27th. TICKETS
Solardo had the crowd bouncing.
And a good time was had by all.
