Club Reports: Vyce, Independent Bar, Aero Bar

This row of clubs on Orange Avenue between Pine Street and Church Street is where the V-Group used to dominate downtown nightlife with their V-named clubs. Left to right, Vixen, Vintage, The Fifth (using the Roman numeral V) and Vanity were popular choices, often with House, EDM and Breaks. But names and concepts have changed over the years and Vixen is now Sidebar, Vintage is now Room 22 and Vanity is now Eve.
But The Fifth (home to the Disco Lunch) became Vyce and it’s the only V-club still remaining.
They still have a small DJ tower. I didn’t recognize him up there.
The music was all Hip Hop and the front bar was pretty crowded.
Their color-changing glass ceiling is still there.
As is the secret doorway to Room 22.
You know by now if its at all possible on a Saturday night, going to stop by Independent Bar.
DJ Indie John (USA) in the booth when I first arrived.
Good crowd in the club for early-to-mid 80’s Alternative.
The crowd is slowly starting to return after last summer’s bar closures.
Everybody loves the 80’s!
Aero Bar is “love on a rooftop”.
Here we found Saturday night resident DJ Dominick Morrison (USA) flanked by DJ Sky Mareci (USA) and DJ Chino (USA).
The dance floor started relatively empty.
But quickly filled up for House music.
All under the electric sky!
A good time was had by all.
