Club Reports: CityWalk, Tin Roof, Grumpy’s Underground

Friday night began with a visit to Universal CityWalk where we had heard that some of their venues had reopened!
Bob Marley’s was one of them.
Their band was playing Reggae in their outdoor courtyard.
Pat O’Brien’s has also reopened.
One of their dueling pianists was operating outside the venue.
The adjoining Fat Tuesday has also reopened but on this chilly December evening, few takers.
Rising Star is back in business as of Halloween weekend!
Ditto for Margaritaville although just as a restaurant; I did not see or hear their band playing last night.
A small crowd was at their waterfront stage listening to a piano player…..
…..leading the gathered crowd to a sing-along of “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
What have not reopened are their two main dance clubs The Groove…..
…..and Red Coconut Club. No updates for them yet.
A few miles down Universal Blvd from CityWalk is Icon Park, home to the Orlando Eye.
And home to Tin Roof.
Where we found live band Switch (USA) playing 80’s!
Big crowd in the club!
Tables were required…..
…..unless you were dancing!
Did we mention that Tin Roof has wings!?
You know they’re official since they have a shiny disco ball.
We first became familiar with Switch back in 2009 when they played occasionally at The Groove when TG ran an 80’s Night on Thursday nights. LINK
Switch was in their “Back To The 80’s” persona last night. Some shows are in their “Switch Into The 90’s” persona, my favorite “Nerd Ranger” persona and their St. Patrick’s Day “Def Lepprechaun” persona!
I’m not much of a band person but Switch is always a fun time!
Final Friday night stop was Grumpy’s Underground which is located on North Mills.
Arrived just as DJ Solstice (USA) was taking over from DJ Spark-D (USA).
Breaks all night!
Solo holding up the dance floor!
DJ Gamma (USA) taking over next.
Dance floor got occupied!
And the bar stayed pretty active too in this small venue.
DJ Phin (USA) back in the saddle!
Too many guys, not enough girls!
DJ Slinkee (USA) was the special guest!
Spotted at the bar: Solo joined Tracy & Stacey
Spotted in the club: DJ Andrez (USA) & DJ Kris Klutch (USA)
Spotted on the dance floor: the mischievous DJ Amygurl (USA).
Spotted on the patio: DJ Heather Collins (USA) & DJ Justin Rossilini (USA). Don’t miss her special live outdoor edition of “Heather’s House” at Ace Cafe on January 16th headlined by Brothers of Funk Storm & Johnny Dangerously, Dave London, Chris Craze and more! LINK
Good to see DJ A-Stat (USA) back in the perch!
He would tag team with Slinkee!
A good time was had by all.
