Club Reports: Shakai, Monkey Bar, Beau Monde, Independent Bar, Gilt

Saturday night and making the rounds. I’ve walked past Shakai Sushi Lounge for years but had not previously gone in.
It was early and they were still converting it over from restaurant by day into nightclub by night. Much larger inside than expected.
DJ Xclusive (USA) was in the booth playing Top 40 migrating into Hip Hop during my visit. As it gets later the Saturday night format is Reggaeton, Bachata and Dembow.
Exceeded expectations. Interesting place and there was a line at the door to get in when I departed.
The last venue to reopen in the Wall St. Plaza complex was Monkey Bar.
DJ Sean Samaroo (CDN/USA) was playing House!
No one dancing at this early hour but the inside bar was busy.
The outside patio bar was busy.
Some trick-or-treaters were making the rounds!
Next weekend is going to be absolutely crazy and OEN will have coverage!
Over on Magnolia is a bar called…..curiously enough…..Magnolia. And they’ve renovated the upstairs into Beau Monde ultralounge.
Here we found DJ Dity (USA) playing Chill House.
It’s a small but beautiful room and you need to check it out!
You know by now if it’s at all possible on a Saturday night, I’m going to check out Independent Bar.
DJ Mickey (USA) was in the perch playing the Saturday night format of 80’s New Wave.
The crowds still have not fully returned to I-Bar but we’re seeing more and more every weekend.
Because everybody loves the 80’s!
Gilt Nightclub was the final stop of the night.
Arrived fashionably late and DJ D-Day (USA) was in the booth playing House.
Not as crowded as we typically see here either but hardly empty.
And then at 1AM, there he was!
The legendary DJ Gene Farris (USA).
And everyone in the club got on the floor!
Spotted by the booth: Amelia & Storm
Spotted on the dance floor: Adam & Michelle
Playing DJ Green Velvet/Get Real (USA) hit “Jolean“.
The show was only announced a day or so ahead of time so it was a good crowd considering.
His collaboration with Gawp (USA), “Aphrodisiac“, had everyone bouncing!
Gene Farris is based in Chicago.
Had one additional club on my list for last night but the music was just too great to leave!
A good time was had by all.
