Club Reports: Attic Nightclub, McQueens Social Lounge, Elixir Bar

Last weekend we spotted what we thought were lights flashing inside second floor Attic Nightclub so we were determined to check it out this weekend to see if they’ve reopened. Turns out the lights were probably just reflections bouncing off the glass from across the street because they’re definitely still closed. With Florida allowing bars and clubs to reopen beginning tomorrow, hopefully they’ll be back in business next weekend.
McQueens Social Lounge is another second floor bar along Pine Street. It’s located above Bullitt Bar with both venues themed after the 1968 action film Bullitt starring Steve McQueen.
The DJ perch is located high in the club and here we found DJ Freefall (USA). Actually, he found me!
Operating at 50% capacity, it wasn’t particularly crowded although the bar stools at each of the 3 bars were full.
With exposed brick and plenty of wood, McQueens is a beautiful venue.
The Saturday night format is 90’s Hip Hop (which of course is when Hip Hop was good).
Yes, they still have their gold skull wall, great for photo ops.
We always end up at Elixir Bar because during the covid-19 bar/club closures, it’s been the only place downtown playing House music! It’s been a real sanity-saver!
Here we found resident DJ Chino (USA) and his colleagues in the booth.
Also operating at 50% capacity, it was already pretty full when we arrived around 11PM.
Chino had the crowd bouncing!
With people dancing all over their famous outdoor patio!
Spotted in the booth: Concert promoter Jeff Kenney. Big concert announcement coming soon!
Wanting her picture with the DJ.
The outdoor bar stayed busy.
House music all night long.
Viva la short shorts!
The line to get in at 1AM stretched nearly all the way to the corner. Come early to hear downtown’s best music!
Back inside, a good time was had by all.
