Downtown To Have Entry Checkpoints

Following last weekend’s (and prior) shootings downtown, the Orlando Police Department will be adding 6 “controlled entry checkpoints” around the CBD and specifically Orange Avenue. Anyone with a concealed weapon permit would be allowed to enter but other weapons would be confiscated. Presumably there will not be any ID checks as that would be illegal for public streets. This is a step in the right direction but it still does not address the clubs that attract thugs downtown to begin with. More details from the Orlando Sentinel here.
