Club Reports: Chillers, Cahoots, High Tide 80’s Night

What do you get when you mix an Amway Center crowd coming out of the 80’s Freestyle Explosion show with downtown’s annual 80’s Pub Crawl crowd and put them together for an 80’s Freestyle After Party? To find out, we began on the ground floor at Chillers.
Home to those frozen alcoholic slurpee machines!
DJ 2Step (USA) was in the booth playing 80’s Freestyle.
I wanted one of their Purple Orgasm drinks but the bar was just too crowded!
Up to the second floor for Cahoots.
Here we found DJ Scott (USA) in the booth playing 80’s Freestyle.
The bar was crowded here too! You may remember Cahoots under prior name Big Belly Brewery.
Some of the peeps were dancing in Freestyle-style unison!
Now up to the rooftop for High Tide, the new name for what was once Latitudes.
High Tide is pretty much as you remember Latitudes except during the 1.5 year renovation project every board on the wood deck and awnings were replaced.
The main bar is still there but like the rest of the rooftop, now sporting a more Caribbean ambience.
The north bar is still there as well and was doing some brisk business.
We arrived just in time to see DJ Jimmy Joslin (USA) take over the boards from DJ KJ of K5 (USA).
The dance floor was already seeing some action.
The music…..80’s Freestyle of course!
There were plenty of people busting their 80’s moves!
There’s no style like the freestyle!
DJ Nsane (USA) took over a half hour or so time slot.
We’re told he was a big part of the Orlando dance scene back when all this music was new!
Rooftop stayed jammed!
Spotted by the booth: DJ KJ with vocalist Dana Dee.
DJ Danny C of the Invaders (USA) now resides in Huntsville but used to call Orlando home.
One banger after another had the club bouncing!
Things got crazy!
Everyone showing they still got it!
The twins were up next! Take DJ Ray…..
Add MC Richie Rich. Put them together and you get…..
Twice As Nice (USA) aka The Babalu Bad Boyz. Having migrated to Power96 in Miami, they are Orlando veterans with prior shows on radio stations such as 95.3Party and 102JAMZ.
I believe their music crossed into the early 90’s but they kept the dance floor crazy!
Keep on, keepin’ on!
Wow, what a night! So what do you get when you mix an Amway Center crowd coming out of the 80’s Freestyle Explosion show with downtown’s annual 80’s Pub Crawl crowd and put them together for an 80’s Freestyle After Party? Bedlam, that’s what you get. A good time was had by all.
