Club Reports: 70’s Night & Abba Tribute (MSC Virtuosa)

Thursday night on MSC Virtuosa and time for a 70’s themed night! Beginning outside at the ship’s main Atmosphere Pool, “Flower Glory Moment” really meant 70’s Night! And you can’t go on a cruise without a 70’s Night!
With DJ Tony (I) playing Disco hits! I thought he looked a bit like DJ Benny Benassi (I).
The dance floor was jamming but you had to keep your mask on. Covid protocols on the ship have been pretty strict.
Music included songs like “Born To Be Alive”, “We Are Family” and technically 1980 hit “Funkytown”.
You can’t recreate the 70’s without bell bottoms!
DJ had the dance floor bouncing!
Next it was on to the Masters of the Sea Irish pub.
But did I read the ship’s Program correctly? Was I in the right place? Was there really an Abba (S) tribute taking place here?
Yes it was! Music duo “It Takes 2” (GB/SRB) beginning the night with “Dancing Queen”.
And it didn’t take long for dance floor action to begin!
And moments later it got like this!
Abba hits such as “Fernando”, “Money Money” and “SOS” followed for the next hour!
Everyone was getting in to it because everybody loves Abba!
Of course we heard “Super Trouper”, “Waterloo” and reinvigorated hit “Mama Mia” too.
It did occur to me that I was in an Irish pub, hearing music from an English vocalist and Serbian guitarist, dancing and singing with a mostly Italian crowd, in English, to a 70’s Swedish band enroute from Qatar to the United Arab Emirates. It was an amazing international experience!
Sad that the cruise is ending but happy to be returning to the happiest place on earth, Orlando. Another shipboard 70’s Night completed and a good time was had by all.
