Concert Report: AAHZ Reunion 2021

Thanksgiving Eve means just one thing in Orlando: AAHZ Reunion time! And after a gap last year due to covid19, the Wizards of AAHZ were back on stage last night! I had the night off too; no camera (just my phone) so close to 5 hours of actually enjoying the music and visiting with friends!
My camera phone isn’t very good and the lighting made it tough to get pictures. The show opened at 9PM with a mostly 90’s AAHZ set from DJ Dave Cannalte (USA) and the vibe was amazing.
DJ Baby Anne (USA) came out of retirement for the night for the second AAHZ Reunion in a row. She switched the music over to the Breaks she’s known for with hits such as “Beachball” and “I Do Both Jay and Jane”. A big roar from the crowd when she went Booty Breaks with one of my favorites, DJ Fixx (USA)/illDJ Chris B (USA) hit “International Wingman”ft Sporty O (USA). She had the crowd bouncing!
DJ Icey (USA) was back too and he played all the Classic Dance songs the crowd came to hear him play. These included songs such as “The One”, “Sweet Harmony” and “Let Me Be Your Fantasy”.
The dance floor was packed just like the old days. I kind of suspected a jammed club when the first tier of Early Bird tickets sold out within the first 24 hours of being offered. I was told that walk-ups without tickets at some point were turned away with The Beacham apparently at capacity. What a great night!
Of course you can’t return to AAHZ without Kimball Collins (USA) and his 1:15AM set switched the music back to AAHZ-era early House music.
I think AAHZ Reunion shows have gone on for more years now than AAHZ did itself in the late 80’s & early 90’s. But you got to give the people what they want and the enthusiasm last night was off the chart! A good time was had by all.
